Hi all,

I've been reading post after post on these forums of people who have had improved health benefits after quitting smoking and taking up vaping. I have my last pouch of tobacco and have started to vape a little on the side.

Reasons for switching:
Monetary...smoking is just far too expensive in Australia
Fatigue... I am tired a lot and think this may be part in due to smoking
Lung capacity... I find myself out of breath and coughing more as I get older.

I am posting this so I can look back on my journey.

Thank you for being a part of it.

Hello and welcome, Natasha.

I wish you a successful and joyful journey. It may be helpful if I emphasize that it may take some time of dual use, both smoking and vaping, before you can pick your cigarette quit day and get through it. We all are different, but it took me about six weeks of doing both, while I familiarized myself with vaping options--equipment, liquids and other things--until I loved vaping so much more than smoking, I picked a day and quit smoking forever.

My last cigarette was near the end of 2012, and nearly every day I think of what a miracle it is.

Wishing you that "forever".

Welcome there are plenty good devices out there, especially for beginners i must admit one of my preferred beginners kits is either vaperesso xros mini ideal to run high nic. I use 1.2ohm pod for more of a restricted draw. Simple low wattage device auto draw no other settings. 0.8 pods are bit looser drawer both with fantastic flavour. 1000mah battery not phenomenal battery life but still pretty good, rechargeable by usb c probably only hour from dead, its one of my bedside table vapes

Welcome to ECF and the world of vaping! For me, switching to vaping eliminated an annual spring chest infection and a developing chronic smoker's cough, as well as reducing a heavy demand on my bank account. I hope you see similar benefits! Oh, and it doesn't hurt that I actually like vaping more than I did smoking. There are some adjustments, of course. If you encounter any road bumps during your transition, please let us know.. We're happy to help with everything from strategies for dealing with cravings to equipment selection and use to pretty much anything else you can think of.

Welcome to the ECF. I am not going to sell or recommend any device or flavors, as I don't know what is/ isn't available in Australia.
With a little determination you can switch straight up from tobacco to vaping, but it isn't easy for the first few days.
Rather than spending money on devices you are unfamiliar with, I would recommend getting a beginner set-up and start exploring different flavors. Bakery, Drinks, Fruit, Sweets and Tobacco flavored e-liquids are available. Vaping something you enjoy the flavor of would help your transition to vaping.
    Good Luck.
