These tests below only note the ESTIMATED ratings for these batteries at the time I tested them. Any battery that is not a genuine Samsung, Sony, Murata, LG, Panasonic, Molicel, or Sanyo can change at any time! This is one of the hazards of using “rewrapped” or batteries from other manufacturers so carefully research any battery you are considering using before purchasing.

Misusing or mishandling lithium-ion batteries can pose a SERIOUS RISK of personal injury or property damage. They are not meant to be used outside of a physically and electrically protected battery pack. Never exceed the battery’s current rating and keep the plastic wrap and top insulating ring in perfect condition. Use of any of these batteries is AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Testing batteries at their limits is dangerous and should never, ever, be attempted by anyone who has not thoroughly studied the dangers involved, understands the risks, has the proper equipment, and takes all appropriate safety precautions.

If the battery has only one current rating number, or if it only says "max", then I have to assume the battery is rated at that current level for any type of discharge, including continuous.

Someone should go to jail for rating this cell at 15A “max continuous” and using a larger “30A” rating on the wrap to attract attention and get people to buy this piece of junk. That 30A rating has nothing to do with its performance and wasn’t set based on any kind of testing. It was set to try to be competitive with all the other uselessly overrated cells being sold.

This Imren appears to be a rewrap of the LG MJ1, a 10A-rated 3400mAh (min.)/3500mAh (typical) cell. When discharged at 15A this Imren gets almost hot enough to boil water. At its 30A rating it instantly drops to under 3.1V. If allowed to drop to 2.8V it delivers 15mAh...yes, only fifteen.

Imren’s website and their Alibaba page market this as a 30A battery but this cell is completely useless at 30A or even a lot lower than that.

In my opinion this is a dangerously overrated cell and should never be used for anything needing more than perhaps 5A-7A (about 15W-20W).

The capacity of the four cells I tested ranged from 3090mAh to 3548mAh. Three of them met the 3500mAh rating that Imren gave them but one did not. It could be a low grade cell. Since that cell I tested cannot be the lowest capacity cell for the ones Imren sells I am rating this Imren at 3000mAh.

Imren doesn’t seem to care about the performance of this cell. Imren sure doesn’t seem to care about our safety. All they seem to care about is getting our money. Why should we support a company like this? Why should we buy anything from a company that feels this way about us?

Two cells were donated for the purposes of testing. Thank you!
