I have always used AW 18650 1600mAh batteries in stacked, single, and boosted configurations. All charged on a pila.
I have done a little research on the best 18650, and base on this CPF users 2012 18650 tests at 2,3,5amp (est. amp draw on dual/quad/6 coil use)Battery test-review 18650 comparator I will probably get these LG-ICR18650D1 3000mah 4.35v (pink)Lithium-ion Battery (CR-ICR18650D1) Lithium-ion « Cordless Renovations if I can source them.
And this charger: CottonPickers 4.35 volt + DM (--> FS: Cottonpickers Chargers incl. Worlds smallest Li-ion charger with display )

That battery IS pretty dang nice. Good link!
Wanna borrow my charger? ;)

toma, what device do you have? You should probably stay away from protected batteries in high drain/regulated devices. They work well in mechanical type mods though.

I'm waiting for a ProVari in the mail V2 if that helps

those are great batteries..their protection circuit is top notch also from seeing the discharge graphs..but you really want to use an IMR battery or the panasonic CGR18650CH to be absolutely safe..the 3400's you posted are protected and the circuit is a good one, but the circuit could always fail or not do it's job properly..with the IMR you are certain your face will be ok in the event of a battery failure..I highly recommend the panasonic 2250mah CGR18650CH

THX for the input.

Just be aware that the LGs are unprotected ICRs and even though he tested them a 5 amps, doesn't mean they are rated for the same.

Ooo I missed that, I was so overcome by the 5amp run time and 4.35v...
but as I read this SuperT thread It seems the AW IMR1600 are probably still the way to go for VV or kick because of the 3.3-3.2v cutoff.

The Panasonic holds 376mAh more than the AW 1600 at the 3.3v cutoff.
