Best alternative to cartomizers?

Hello all.

Obviously I'd post this in the appropriate forum...But being a new member and all...You know how it is.

Anyway, I'm new to vaping. My roommate purchased an e-cig a couple months ago. And I wasn't impressed with that particular product, but it did impress upon me the potential of vaping.

So after spending hours and hours doing research in this forum (thank god for this forum btw), I decided to pick up a joye 510, a 510 mega battery pcc, a couple manual mega batteries, a few bottles of juice, and some genuine joye 510 cartomizers.

I love the joye 510, and my decision to purchase it was influenced largely by all the reviews and notes that I read about it here. So thanks to all those who've taken the time to provide information about it for us new vapers.

Here's the thing -

My reasons for switching to vaping are entirely health-related. Entirely.

And I've discovered both from personal experience, and from reading about the experiences of others, that there appears to be no way to use a genuine joye 510 cartomizer (or others, from what I've read), without running the risk of burning and subsequently inhaling the polyfill/bluefoam/whatever material you're using inside the cartomizer.

I'm not trying to begin or resurrect a debate on the safety of cartomizers in this regard...I just know that for me personally, while I hold out hope that the state of the art in cartomizers will advance such that this problem is eliminated, I'm not comfortable with using them at this time.

*And just in case any manufacturers read this, please realize that there are plenty of people out there that will gladly pay a much higher price for cartomizers that use a filler material that will absolutely not burn or otherwise emit harmful vapors.*

So anyway, since I can't use cartomizers, and since I love vaping and really want it to work for me, I'm looking for people's opinions on the best alternative.

The idea of having to add juice every few minutes (dripping, etc) sounds...Ehh...Kinda really awful, honestly.

I'm not sure I understand what the need is for a filler material at all...What you basically have with an e-cig is an atomizer that heats up to the degree that it boils your e-cig fluid, right? Wouldn't it be possible to design a system such that the atomizer was in direct contact with the fluid without a carrier material, that had a filter of some kind toward the mouth-end of the cartridge to prevent fluid from getting in your mouth?

But I'm a lot of things, and an engineer isn't one of them, so I digress.

If anyone can tell me what they think the most convenient option is besides cartomizers that doesn't involve the risk of smoking polyfill, I'd really appreciate it.

I'm not incredibly handy, but I'm willing to play with mods that would achieve this if anyone knows of a good one that would take care of my problem.

Thanks to all in advance.

Tauntaun, you're not talking about cartomizers, you're talking about cartridges where you use the polyfill. Cartomizers are disposable, (but can be used more than once).

I'm not sure what the filling in cartomizers is made out of but I doubt if it's any worse than the filters on analogs (cigs). If you check the link for the tank- it's a little plastic tank that's filled with juice that attaches to the atomizer.

I second this solution. I hated the "surprise" burnt taste of cartomisers that would occur suddenly without warning. With the tanks: 1) there is no filler to burn; 2) you can monitor your e-liquid in the clear (transluscent) tanks; 3) if you get a burnt taste (from the wick) your tank is also probably empty...whoops, back to point #2. Try them, they're the best thing I've found so far.

I haven't singed stuffing in a carto yet. I buy soft-cap cartos, full one well, and whenever the vapor seems a light or a bit dry in a way that can't be fixed by tipping the carto mouth-end down for 5 seconds, I pop out the soft cap and add another 6-8 drops of juice. I don't have to do it that often. I did it a couple of times at work today.

I buy Boge soft-cap standard cartos for 510. I've been using the same one for almost 4 weeks though I do vape 2 PVs so consider that almost 2 weeks. On my KR808D-1 I use Vapor4Life cartos and they are soft-cap too. I can usually get a week out of one of those by keeping it damp.

Better than cartos? I guess the Ego tanks? Possible the reservoir cartos you need a syringe to fill but I don't want to carry a syringe.

First of all, thanks to everyone who replied to my question with all your helpful suggestions.

I ended up going with the CE-2 V4 from awesomevapor.com. I got a pack of the regular, as well as a pack of the XL (haven't tried the XL yet).

I also followed the instructions from ShanBurkHolder's youtube video about burning off the antibacterial chemical they treat the wick with before using them.

And I've gotta say, outside of the inconvenience of having to take these things apart before I use them, I'm thrilled with them thus far. Definitely taste better than the cartos I was using, plenty of vapor, and no polyfill to burn!

And I gotta give points to awesomevapor.com. I made my order on a Sunday afternoon, and I had them here by Wednesday.

So thanks for helping a guy out, everyone :)

bought some CE2r4 cartos a couple months ago. First time I tried one..........not impressed considering the great reviews. Popping/boiling juice, spitting unvaporized juice, poor flavor. Went back to dripping or my bogue 2.0ohm cartos.

Last week I got one back out to give a second chance, but using a drip tip for the mouthpiece instead of the silicone plug..........all the difference in the world. Love it now, possibly a new favorite combo. Apparently the basic "plug" is too close to the atty coil so easily allows juice to spit/come out of the mouthpiece (yuck). Also it seemed to take a couple refills for flavor to really shine. No polyfill and only have to refill a couple times a day.
