The best mix is the one you like most for that particular flavor on that particular atomizer. Not very helpful I know, but personal preference is king on this one. Some people are sensitive to pg so they only vape pure VG. Some atomizers behave better with a thicker or thinner juice base (VG is thicker, PG is thinner)
Ratio really isn't a single thing. One has to decide what type of vaper they are and what resistances they are going to use, just like with nic. Then decide the atomizers they need/want for their vape style and if those atomizers are compatible with the juice ratio they use. It's one big circle and if it doesn't connect then it doesn't work.
Then like mentioned some people have problems with PG (I do, pretty common) and to a lesser extent VG (not as common).
I use high VG and sub-ohm and have friends that run 50/50 and the lowest they go might be .9 ohms. They drip just as I do but each of us do it differently.

Might mention some of the drippers you're looking at and what kind of draw you prefer. Do you like th, what's your nic mg or do you use salts?
Higher Vg ratios, because Vg is much thicker than Pg, can cause wicking issues with many of the MTL clearomizer tanks, resulting in a burnt taste or even dry hits. The coils used in these types of tanks typically have tiny wick holes.
With a dripper, there should be no wicking issues, so one can use a 100% Vg liquid without any problems because you are literally dripping the e-liquid directly onto the wick and coil.
Higher Vg will result in more vapor production. Some people might say you need at minumum some Pg to act as a flavor carrier, but I've never found that to be the case. One of my current all day e-liquid flavors is a 100% Vg and it has plenty of flavor.

worth mentioning that most flavors and nic are pg based so very few juices are truly 100% vg unless stated as such.
If you are looking for tons of clouds, more VG heavy although really, you don't HAVE to go VG only, either. Just play around and find what you like on the drippers you are using. It's all personal preference as far as I'm concerned, although yes, probably high VG juice will work well compared to say, a Juul or other pod mod. So if you are dying to go VG sky high, have at that.
