what's the best battery mod for 510? i've been wanting to upgrade my 510 so i can get better throat hit and save battery life.

i hear people talk about chuck and protege a lot.. are these 2 the best ones?

also, for a 510, is it better to just find a mod that's 5v instead of 6v? 6v would probably overheat the atomizer? if so, how's the 5v?

I have the Bartleby and the Protege and at this point I like the box mod in my hand better - althrough the Protege is well made and stylish design for the 'in line batt' style. The Bart. has the internal charger and hence 'passthrough' - an on/off switch for carrying and produces more vapor than anything I have at 3.7v. No info on 5&6V units. From what I've read the 510 atty holds up well in 5V and at 6V it's important for any atty to be continually wet or it goes rather quickly - again - second hand info from the posts I've read on that.

What I've noticed with the Bartleby and the Protege is that the higher mAh batts hold that peak Voltage longer so if you're familiar with a regular 510 batt hot off the charger and what a boost you get for some minutes - think having that for hours with the 14500 battery of the bart/protege or any other mod.

From all the research I've done (a LOT of it), it really does come down to preference.
Go with that you like. I'm a very visual person, so I went with the Chuck to have my own
personalized artwork on it. The GLV is pretty sweet looking, comfort wise, but I couldn't
justify the high cost since the "look" is pretty standard; you can get your own initials
engraved, but in the end it looks like every other one.

I like my Chuck that I just got, bu I can see that it would be a bit large for some people. I used to use a nicostick and that is a bit more manageable size, but the battery life is going to be shorter (still a full day for most).

I'm running my Chuck at 6v on a 510 atty and it seems to be holding up fine, but I don't know how it will do long term since I just got the Chuck yesterday. It has TONS of throat hit at 6v, but any other 6v mod will as well.

What are you looking for as far as:
battery life?
physical size?
battery compatibility? (in case you already have some at home and are just looking for the mod)
do you want the ability to have custom artwork?
specific colors?
Do you drip or use a cart? (some mods don't work well for dripping since they can leak, and this can even void the warranty on some)

I have a related question. Where can you buy one of these things and just order it and have it shipped rather than 'pre-ordering etc' and waiting until they feel like making it or several weeks? Who has giant battery mods on demand?

I ordered my Chuck and it shipped the next day, but I ordered one of the standard colors with no custom artwork. I'm not sure of the turnaround time if he is out of stock or for custom art on it, but Jeff is pretty quick about responding to emails.

    Somewhere between here and there
I would suggest picking one based on the size, look, and convenience of use. Most mods use about the same batteries all though there is probably some difference in quality. I have a few different units and really like the 510 with the 14500 battery behind it at 3.7v. I have tried the 510 at 5 and 6v and I personally don't like it because it seems to get the atty really hot pretty fast. Some people say that they like it at 5v and this is one thing to keep in mind that everyone has different tastes and opinions. I do however like the 901 and 801 at higher voltages.
