Yes, this has been discussed before in other threads. But, I couldn't seem to find a definitive answer. I just got a Beyond Vapes Beacon mech and want to be able to use it to it's fullest. I've only used regulated devices in the past - mainly an istick 50 and a 100. For RDAs I have a HellBoy, A FreakShow (not the mini), and a Tobeco Turbo V2. I'm using Samsung 25R batteries.

I've read that the fancier builds really don't seem to make much of a difference in a mech. So, should I do a plain coil? Parallel wrap? My current "go to" coil on my reg mods is a fused Clapton.

I like what @Tom Forde said in the thread "How to build a Clapton for a mech mod"
Yeah I have a lot of experience with claptons as well. 24g N80 is a great core wire to use. Use your 34g kanthal as your Clapton wrap. The Nichrome is going to give you a very quick ramp up time, so 6 wrap duals on a 2.5 or 3mm bit should serve you well

Would this be my best option? I love big clouds (Who doesn't? :D ), but flavor is the most important aspect for me.

    Thanks!

Are you going dual coil or single? I'm personally running a dual fused 24g KA1/N80 (one strand each, fused in 40g together instead of 2x KA1 or 2x N80 strands) 6 wrap in my Kennedy 24/Limitless mod. I'm using 20A CDR batteries, Samsung 25R-2's & an LG HB2 (I think, it's the brown LG, 3000mAh, 20A CDR) and they work like a charm. Sure I have to swap batteries around every 2-2&1/2 hours but I have enough of them.
In my Twisted Messes atty, I'm running 2 core 24g N80/32g aliens with a triple 40g stitch. But that ohms out to about .08-.09, so it's on my Dimitri parallel box.

Build whatever you want based on the juice you vape, only you can determine whether the build is successful or not. My standard for single 18650 unregulated mechs are dual spaced, single-stranded 9/8 24g Ti @ 3.75mm [0.15] for gunky 20/80 NETs. Or the same, but with 12/11 22g Ti [0.14] for 100% VG juices. Yes, I use Ti on mechs.

    ...LG HB2 (I think, it's the brown LG, 3000mAh, 20A CDR)
That is the LG HG2. The HB2 has a green wrapper and specs at 1500 mAh @ 30A CDR (about as good as it currently gets for low sub-ohm builds on single 18650 unregulated mechs down to 0.14).

I prefer dual coil builds. I tried the 24/34 (dual) you suggested, but it didn't seem to give me what I'm looking for. Ended up with 22g N80, 10 wraps, 3.0mm, dual coils. I like it better. I'll try the 24g N/K combo with the 40 next. Thanks!

Edit: I just looked it it up on SE, and it's too low for me to dual coil it. :(

Oops I got a letter wrong.
The battery was in my mod at the time, my bad. Honesty still a good battery, the HG2, lasts a little bit longer than my Samsung's in my limitless.
I've got 5 vtc4's, (2 for the Dimitri box, 2 in my sig100, 1 loose for mechs), I use it occasionally when I want to just fog up a room with a silly build like 22-24g quads.
There is no perfect build for a mech, it's up to your personal preferences.

Here's a build I like to use sometimes to up the resistance a bit. Fuse one strand of 24g & one strand of 26g with 40g.

Use kanthal or N80, doesn't matter. Do as many wraps you need to hit your target resistance. The pictures above are 24/26g fused with 40g all N80, the 26g N80 raises the resistance a bit, the overall size is smaller than 24/24 & it's a more pliable coil.

Do you mean a single battery tube mech? Or one of those box mechs that hold multiple batts?

If it's a tube you are talking...I wouldn't bother with an intricate coil like a Clapton. The ramp up time will be absurd and it will drain your battery so fast trying to heat up all that metal.

For a single 18XXX tube I wouldn't do anything crazier than twisted or parallel.

    Yup, it is.

Yup, found that out too. I'll be putting it up for trade in the classified section in a minute.
