So i just recently got into mechs w a mechanical squonker its great but im still figuring out what does and doesnt work in it.
Its not as easy as droping a coil in and upping the wattage if its to low.
So my question what are some of the best coil types and resistances.
Awg and stuff would be helpfull to.

OT: one of the magnets on my dotsquonk fell out.
Can i just use cyanoacrylate based glue?

Thnx

Try 24ga SS wire wrapped 5-6 times around a 3.5 - 4mm mandrel. I shoot for 0.3ohms for a coolish direct lung toot. If its kanthal, I use 26ga instead. Using fancy coils is fun, but best kept to regulated devices since the coil mass will make your battery take a dump faster.

I've only fixed door magnets with gorilla superglue with good results-but that was metal to metal on a Reo. Not sure what your mod is made out of, but pro tip: stick the mag to the other one and mark the back with a sharpie, then you know to superglue (just a tiny dab, not too much) the sharpie side. WaLaa- no magnet superglued backwards!

its anodized aluminum.
So it should work

You want single strand coils. Not too long even. Wire thickness will depend on what you want to vape at. If you must use an exotic coil go for a twist. Claptons will do nothing for you. Me I go for a .25ohm coil with single strand single coil 22ga.
YMMV

Yes. That or epoxy. Be sure to clean the old glue off. Clamping it also helps, as does using more glue than you really need and scraping the excess off the top later. Maximum adhesion is usually better than pretty.

IMHO, for a mech simpler is better. KISS (keep it simple, stupid).

Fancy exotic coils (like Claptons) made from thick wire will have a lot of mass, causing a long ramp up time to heat the coil adequately.

I only made simple single wire coils, either compressed or spaced. 26 or 28 gauge kanthal wrapped to end up with a total resistance of 0.5 to 0.6 ohm. (I prefer a cooler vape.) I used a 3mm mandrel because the larger diameter made wicking easier.
