Hello,

I am asking for myself and a friend. We are both contemplating the e-cig, and with the many choices out there, we don't know which e-cigs and flavors would be the best substitutes.

It seems like there are lots of other issues to consider, but I am hoping it makes sense to boil my question down to which choices would best replicate Camel Lights and Misty Menthol Lights.

Thank you for any help you can offer, and Happy New Year!

Don't look for something that is going to taste exactly like what you smoke--it doesn't work. With a cigarette, you mainly taste the burning tobacco, and with an e-cigarette you get none of that.

There are several different types of e-cigs (and a nice description HERE), so it is really a matter of personal preference as to which one you want. Trust me that you will have a collection before this is over with--that is half the fun;)

To start, I think most people would recommend either a 510 or a KR8081-D. Both have their good and bad points, but the KR808 is only two pieces and less to fool with while you are getting started and learning.

For juice, order sample bottles and find ones you like to order larger bottles. in no time at all you will be mixing your own flavors.

For what it is worth, I smoked Misty Light Menthol 120s and preferred Liquid Xpress Cool Rush or Vapor Talk Mentha for a long time. They didn't necessarily taste anything like Mistys, but they were both nice and menthol-y and I liked that.

Not sure what a Camel smoker might like, but there are "camel" juices.

That would be handy!

Maybe you can look in the social groups and see if there is a get together of vapers near out you? I am sure there would be people there who would demonstrate different models to help you decide.

I started out with a two-piece, but not a KR808. It worked fine but the cartomizers were not exactly tasty. Then I moved to an M401, to an 801, to a 901 to a 510, to a KR808, and in between a Janty Stick and a VP1. Oh--and a sweet little flashlight mod I bought from a guy in England.

:D

Its like having a bunch of kids--you love them all for their good points;)

I think reading the model-specific folders might be helpful. But I doubt you would go wrong with whatever you chose to start. Just get some decent juice or cartomizers--that makes all the difference.

I smoked Capri UL Menthols and found that the Nuport (I ordered from Vapor4Life) most simulated the menthol flavor I was going for. I dunno about the camels, but a lot of people say the Parlament is close to a nice tobacco flavor. If you're interested in a 2 piece, you could swing by the Vapor4Life subforum. There's lots of useful info there! And V4L has a huge selection of flavors.

Geez. I sound like a commercial. Enthusiasm unbridled.

Once again, I doubt if you'll find vaping to be a 1:1 experience to smoking analogs... even if you can find a flavor that most similarly matches burning tobacco. I used to smoke Camel Light Menthol and I would always eschew any cigarette that had a menthol blast taste. However, I'm finding that I'm enjoying vaping flavors I never would have smoked in tobacco form. For example, I enjoy all the menthols and mints that V4L offers. Chocolate is another nice flavor, and their KANT is my current all-day vape.

I'm rather taken with V4L's Vapor King which to me is most similar to a cigarette, even though the weight of the battery makes it difficult to manipulate it identically the way I would handle a cigarette. The pass-thru is a lot like smoking from a Turkish water pipe. I think you will enjoy the overall e-cigarette experience, though... no matter which tool you choose.
