Best guide to learning about the electrical side of things?

Hi guys. I have been vaping for 3 years now but I still don't understand the electrical side of things. I know there are things that shouldn't be mixed and matched. I know there are some tanks/coils that don't work on some batteries. I don't know why! I'd like to begin learning. I'd like to know enough to understand mods eventually. The people who build their own seem to be really happy.

Hi Amanda and welcome to the forum!

Here are a few things to help you get a good start:
For info on batteries Baditude has several excellent blog posts on the subject. His blogs on battery safety are a must read before you venture into the world of sub-ohm vaping.

Reliable sources for batteries:
Batteries-Chargers-Flashlights-Only The Best
Authentic AW Batteries - RTD Vapor
Illumn.com - Flashlights, Batteries, Carry Gear, Intelligent LED Lighting, and More!

Do not buy batteries from eBay or Amazon. Some of their third party sellers sell fakes.

... and finally, here's a link that explains things in pretty simple terms: Vaping Battery Safety & Ohms Law Illustarted and explained in very simple terms

Hope that helps and Happy Vaping!

Amanda...I only went to RBA's, because I was tired of rebuilt coils that only lasted me a day. I watched videos from riptrippers and pbusardo on coil building to learn the basics and started with single coil Russian 91%'s. You need to start out by knowing what resistance you would like your coil to be, determine what gauge kanthal wire you need, and the diameter of the coils and how many to wrap. There will be a lot of trial and error in the beginning (or at least there was for me). This is the the reference tool I use for coil building, Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators.
