Haven't seen this mentioned... if it has, sorry. I found that the absolute best tool for any kind of work on carts is a pair of splinter tweezers. Had them in my house since the early 60's when I was an army medic...called them splinter forceps.
You can get them in most drug stores, but watch out because several kinds are available. The ONLY one you want has very narrow needle sharp prongs (easy to dig through the skin to get to the splinter!). Bought one before I started vaping several months ago from my local CVS.
Found it invaluable. Don't need seperate needles, paper clips, etc... one tool does it all! (but only the type I described)
