The only "pricey" mod I would even consider laying down a bunch of coin on at this point is the ProVari. Even with the loss of VW, the quality, warranty, and dealing with a company like ProVape for a Made in USA product that should last for years make it well worth $160.
With that said, you really aren't going to see much difference in performance between the VAMO and higher end devices, IMHO. At that point, you could have 4 or 5 backup VAMOs for the price of a ProVari or some other high end devices.
I own 2 VAMO's and plan on picking up 2 or 3 more to put in the closet for rainy days ahead. Both have been performing flawlessly for a month or so now. Just an unbelievable device for the money.
Also, keep in mind that the VAMO, ZMax, Groove, iTaste MVP, iTaste SVD, Lavatube and almost all the other Chinese made mods are running the exact same chipset. So, $40-50 for a SS VAMO vs $80-100 or so for the others and you will be getting essentially the same device with less features than the VAMO (either no VW, can't stack 18350s, one button menu sys, or all of the above) as far as most of them are concerned.
Yes, I'll probably invest in a ProVari very soon, but I'll also be stocking up on some VAMOs. They're just that damn good!

Provari has a higher frequency pulse width modulation than vamo and all the other Chinese clones, and actually has a warranty, & IMHO better quality control. Is this worth the 3x-6x price? Buyers choice, to each his own.
I completely agree, the VAMO hits a great price point for VV/VW devices. Sure there are stories of issues but I think every device has those and with the popularity of VAMO, you hear about it more often.
Is the inset wide enough for some ego threaded clearos? for example, Can you use a kanger EVOD with the vamo? I understand that the inside post is deep and some 510 connectors don't get a great connection?? Any experience with that?
