Guys I'm really sorry for posting something political here, but, someone in my local paper wrote this very misguided op-ed recently: We must protect New Yorkers from the dangers of e-cigarettes
I just posted a comment which hopefully is approved and posted to the article. This makes me angry - I will respond with an op-ed of my own
I WON'T let my local community be misguided by this foolish propaganda by someone who claims to know what they are talking about...(all the comments so far agree with me...LOL)

"95% safer" ...actual words spoken by a British American tobacco company scientist.....
Second-hand vaping appears almost harmless...
And nicotine by itself is not nearly as addictive as when combined with other compounds found in cigarettes making it more powerful and much more effective delivery....

Meh... I expect idiocy from the populous. And better from the Govt.I expect this crap from goverment officials but not from random people in the town over

I know what you mean. I know what Eddie means too, this is one of the fairer assessments I've read. Still, I'll happily respond with my own op-ed. My area is mostly poor, and there's a ton of smokers. I'd like them to know the truth and this seems like a good way to get it out there. Bet the newspaper didn't see a lively debate coming but it'll be happy to see it happen.

I am not sure the FDA or the gov't cares whether vaping actually saves lives or not! I am sure though that with the decline in smokers over the last couple years, (and the next few to come), the money that BT has to give the gov't every year is dwindling, (big time), and is due to run out in several years. The money has to come from somewhere to replace it and they have jumped on us to create the money they stand to lose altogether at some point... It's all about money and not about you or I... The gov't has spoken very loudly in the last 30+ yrs that they don't care about us unless it is an election year, and then after elected they have no recollection of even saying they cared about us... Its been proven year in and year out!!!
At $330,000 just to apply for fda approval,....I'd say they're out for a de facto ban, not simply to get money from us......
I think the ultimate goal is to drive lots of folks back to smoking, in an effort to keep the gravy train rollin'......
