I've been using the blow/drain/dry burn method to clean my 801 atomizer when I feel it needs cleaning.

It worked well, but today I decided to look down into the tube with a flashlight, and I see this big blob of clear gunk on one side.

It doesn't seem to interfere with vaping, but I'd assume it would work much better if it wasn't there.

Ive read a few threads that say not to soak the atomizer in anything, but how can I safely clean it out?

Any ideas?

Hammer and chisel?

For me, soaking ruins the atty. It just doesn't work. That gunk build up happens, eventually, the atty's so gunked up that the coil just won't heat up. Time to toss it.

That being said, people have soaked in vodka, pure grain alcohol (Everclear), or hot water. You could try an ultrasonic cleaner.

The atomizer heats up pretty well, it gets pretty damn hot once in a while to.

I'm thinking of gently using a toothpick to get the gunk out little by little, it's fairly soft and hasn't hardened up yet.

Weird thing is that I can tailpipe the 801 as if I dripped into it for a good 10-15 hits, it tastes better than my cartridge too (which is brand new)

What is PGA?

Great idea not soaking.

I'm getting clouds of vapor and a good bit of flavor now, but all of the sudden my atty has become a juice hog.

Does anyone here leave their atty's cartridge side up when not using them?

I've done that to get the liquid on the bottom of the cart up to the top, it seems to be working, but is that a good idea?

Ditch the cartridge on the 801 Atty, put a drip tip on it, Ikenvape has some nice ones for 801's that fit, work, and give you a very good draw compared to the bigger ones that are to bulky and dont give you a good draw. Try this and you will get better flavor, less burn and bad taste from the cart & filler and an overall really nice vape, just try it. 801's are all juice hogs and always have been. Also if you want to try a nice set up try the Ikenvape Mini 801 in a 1.8ohm or 2ohm and also try the new cannon Attys that have a 510 thread with 801 internals in them ;-)

It won't hurt anything to keep the cart end up but I don't think it's really necessary. I just throw mine in a box and they are fine as long as you cap them first. Now, CE2s is another story. I always store them carto end up so they don't leak.
