Not slowly trying my way forth towards a good tasting juice, but following forum instructions telling me to use 25% liqorice flavouring in a 10ml bottle of 50/50 VG/PG. I almost vomited when i tried it.

Oh dear! Looks like maybe they forgot some punctuation and should have been 2.5% I think I'd have died at 25%!!

Flavoring have Different Concentrations Levels. And some are Less Potent that Others. But I haven't seen Many Flavors that Called for 25% of a Strong Tasting Flavor like Licorice.

That must have Been Like Eating an Entire Handful of Licorice in One Hit.

    LOL

Things I thought to myself (and later carried out):

"All right. I want to make a 5 mL batch of 20% flavoring. That's 1ml of flavoring and 5 mL of unflavored vg/pg"

"Why is this bottle so full?"

If you add 1ml of Flavoring to 5ml of unflavored, your Flavor Percentage is 16.667%. If you want to make 5ml at 20% Flavoring you should Add 1ml of Flavoring to 4ml of Unflavored.

Flavoring % = Flavoring Volume / Total Volume.

I think that was the point of his post, a DIY mistake.

This thread is too cool :toast: Lets keep em coming. Now that most of the "common" mistakes have been enumerated... I'm interested to hear stories regarding what you may have thought would be a good combo but wasn't or conversely what you thought might not be so good but you thought what the heck and it was glorious... And for my two cents... as was mentioned about the beakers... glass cylinders aren't any better... IMHO, just sayin... ;) I'm sticking to the syringes from here forward!

... What is the proper steep procedure for freshly made juice?

Vape it within 10 seconds or however long it takes to shake and get it in your dripping atty, whichever is longer.

IF it is close, or wrong, let it steep for a bit. Try it from time to time to see if anything good happens. In the odd chance something great did happen, make a note of how long it took in your recipe. (The majority of the time steeping doesn't do anything but result in some slight color change.)

when first diy....didn't realize that my nic already had pg in it :)

I couldn't figure out why the calculator kept coming up with negative numbers if I combined pg/vg/flavors/24mg nic with wanting an end result of 24mg.

Idk why it took longer than a second to figure out my problem. I must have stared at the negative pg numbers for an hour or two without realizing my problem.
