Ok here is Bill 45 that has passed 1st reading in the legislature and due for 2nd reading this week. Suggest you read the specific section is Schedule 3 - "Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2014"

Legislative Assembly of Ontario | Bills & Lawmaking | Current Parliament | Bill 45, Making Healthier Choices Act, 2014

Time is short. We still have the ability to have this amended.

Sorry Projectguy, I wish that I had your faith that this bill could be amended.

I have signed the petition https://www.change.org/p/ontario-min...iter=146496140 ,shared amongst friends and written my MPP, but I feel that it is to no avail :(

I really don't know what the vector is on this anymore. I once thought it was a plain and simple matter of taxes, but I'm beginning to believe that it has morphed into a "stop the people from lifting something to their mouths and blowing smoke" at any cost !?

Without trying to sound doomsday, I would recommend that everyone get a load of DIY stuff and enough hardware to get them through this shaking out period.

Gotta love the liberal majority! But I also thought this was a tax thing at first, which I am sure it still is to a large extent. All I hear now though is how bad this is for children, washing their flavoured vape down with birthday cake flavoured vodka. (yes, it exists). I've heard the polls and studies that say 1 out every so many or 10 out of every so many have tried vaping, or have tried smokes, or use either regularly. My bigger question is where are they finding these kids to poll? just on the fringe of school property in the smoking section?

I don't mind bans on vaping INSIDE public places such as a mall or grocery store or whatever, but to push us back into the dirty tar pits 9 meters from any door with the actual smokers is just too much. Until the true facts are in on the effects of vaping its not a terrible idea to be a tad bit skeptical, the gov just needs to understand that these are NOT tobacco products and should not be treated the same.

Talked this out with my husband yesterday and he put it into a different perspective for me:
We as responsible vapers see this solely as "Government needs to restrict the good e-cig sellers" so we can't get our e-cigs.

But to the non-vaper, Government is trying to restrict the sale of flavourful e-cigs on every convenience store counter, to anyone who wants to buy them regardless of age or smoking status.
Or the sale of crappy quality liquid and/or batteries to those who don't know any better, because there isn't any regulation on products (despite the ECTA existing to impose such quality-control on the retailers who ~choose to~ participate).

As he and I were talking I realized that despite what WE know so incredibly well, the average person on the street still sees us as smokers with a different kind of equipment....and that's not going to change overnight. So basically, when you look at it that way, this is a step towards attempting to make e-cigs safer in the long run, and possibly things will open up down the road when there's a handle on it.
They just happen to be doing it in such a way that FEELS like any progress we've made has been for absolutely nothing.

At least, I need to think of it that way. 'Cause if I think about it any other way, I just want to curl into a ball and hide from the world.

I wrote a letter to my local mp. I agree that this industry needs regulation. Selling to minors and vaping indoors need to be banned. As of yet there is nothing stating that ejuice will be regulated in any shape or form. Looks like we get to keep our flavourings. The biggest problem I have with the bill is that vendors will no longer be able to display their goods. Also you are not allowed to handle a product until after it has been purchased. Any person that is a smoker looking into becoming a vapour will now have a major disadvantage. These are devices that need to be seen, and handled to learn how they operate. Why can bars display their liquor yet vendors for e-cigarettes can not? I asked my local mp to amend the bill to allow for the display and handling of these products. I recommended that an age requirement be put in place to enter an establishment that sells these products. 19+ to enter, but people need to be able to see the products. This also keeps the product out of variety stores that are the ones who are selling to minors, etc. It's a win win for everyone involved. I haven't heard back from him yet but I am curious to see if he responds. I recommend everyone write a letter to their local mp. We need to stand up for our rights.

Here is my take on Bill 45 -Schedule 3, The Electronic Cigarette Act, 2014 Meatheads Madness: Bill 45 - Schedule 3; The Dipi Solution

Here is the letter I sent to every MPP in Queens Park. Meatheads Madness: So I wrote another letter...

And the national post is looking for brief letters to the editor for a full page run on Monday Dec 8. Info on requirements and timelines for submission and my submission can be found here. Meatheads Madness: Less than 100 words? Me?

Excellent submission to the national post.

More info on bill 45 and what you can do. Courtesy of Canada Ejuice. I urge everyone in Canada to look at this stuff and get involved. As the largest province, the rest of our governments are going to be looking to what Ontario does here for better or for worse. We can't let them do that.

Fight Bill 45

Wow, this is insane......

3. (1) No person shall, in any place where electronic cigarettes are sold or offered for sale, display or permit the display of electronic cigarettes in any manner that would permit a consumer to view or handle an electronic cigarette before purchasing it.

12. (1) No person shall use an electronic cigarette or have an activated electronic cigarette in a motor vehicle while another person who is less than 16 years old is present in the vehicle.

This issue of government regs. etc. is troubling to say the least. What bothers me more than anything is how the gov. can make decisions with no credible info. I have signed a petition and sent an email to my MPP but that just doesn't seem to be enough. Now that bill C 45 is in committee after 2nd reading it is almost sure to pass 3rd reading and into law. Very frustrating.

They just cut and paste the regulations for tobacco sales / usage restrictions

Same exact crap. Where u can't smoke = Where you can't vape.... and all the in-store restrictions like visibility, access etc.

There is nothing to protect the consumer from bad products, which should be the government's role in society. Since they forgot what their role is, we should make sure none of them are elected again. Easy, right? Use your power, please vote !

Joint Action, Ontario Bill 45 Section 3 | ECTA of Canada News Brief and Timeline

Let's hope they have enough pull to get this Bill altered. Some sections are ludicrous and will only help to maintain the tobacco industries grip on society. I am glad to see a well informed group of professionals fighting for our rights. I for one have expressed my concerns to the mpp's of ontario and have had an ongoing dialogue with the mpp from my riding. Everyone needs to write an email to mpp's in a polite professional manner to show them that this is something we are willing to fight for. If there are only a few changes we need required (mainly the right to display and explain the products) it should be easier to get changed. They pass the meat of the Bill which the sheeple are happy about but remove the items that truly affect our rights and the potential for current smokers to change to this option.
