Hi there,

New to vaping, and obviously heard about Black Cat while doing research. Sounded like a good juice, so grabbed a 30ml bottle. Only thing is, people state this as being: "tobacco + hints of liquorice", yet mine tastes 100% like butterscotch (exactly like butterscotch instant whip, in fact). I'm starting to think they made a mistake and sent me the wrong product, looking at how people describe this juice.

Before getting in touch with vape escape, just want to get some opinions on this. Like i said, it is nothing like I expected it to be - seems more in line with how RY4 type juices are described, but because i'm new to this and haven't tried many juices yet, need more input!

I have another pure tobbaco one here, and i#d go so far as to say the black cat i got sent, has zero hint of tobacco in it at all.

I'd say call or email them and tell them exactly what you said here. They may actually have sent you the wrong juice and it was mis-labeled (it's happened to me before). Then again. maybe your expectations we way off. Only one way to find out. Odds are they'll send you a new bottle and let you keep what you got the first time.

I've never heard of this liquid, but is there a steeping time?

I've had a lot of juices taste NOTHING like their description until after a week or so of steeping. My best example would be "Nana Cream" by Bombies, which (at first) tastes like banana and maybe some kind of liquor. After a week of steeping, it takes on a "Juicy Fruit" gum kind of flavor, with the banana becoming more subdued.

Hi Neo.

I know this liquid, and I know Jason who runs Vape Escape.

Grizwald liquids are not pre/ready made and will be mixed for you and then 'shipped'. I know it's not particularly helpful, but I do suspect I know what one of the ingredients in Black Cat is and if I make a similar liquid myself, it takes 2-3 weeks to taste spot on.

When did you order it?

I've actually had the juice for a month now sitting in a cupboard (as i don't like it, nor is it anything like what i expected). If anything it's even sweeter now!

Have you been occasionally shaking it? I recommend also removing the cap to let it "breathe". A lot of overly-sweet flavors lose a LOT of their unpleasant sweetness (like.. 90% of any sweet juice I've ever tried) after you give it some breathing time.

Give it a month! Tobacco flavors need time to develop.

I agree with this sentiment.

That said though, I have some "The Virus (H1N1)" from Nicoticket, and I'm having a tough time letting it steep. It just tastes so damn good right away, but I know it'll only get better.. I'm already 1/8th done with my 50mL though.

The urge to vape it is tooooo strong.

Have had the juice around a month, and for the first few days did leave the lid off and let it breathe, etc. Is just ultra sweet with no hint of tobacco at all, very odd.

I mean, it tastes identical, 100%, to butterscotch with nothing else in it. Don't know if some of you guys in the USA get Angel Delight instant whip desserts, but it is identical to their butterscotch flavour (i'm from the UK)

An update:

I emailed Vape Escape and Jason replied quickly. He clearly doesn't believe a mistake has been made, and has at best offered to test it if I send it back to them - which in my opinion, is pretty poor. He could have offered to send a 5ml sample instead of going through all this. I guess "the customer is always wrong" at Vape Escape?

I do not expect a juice with this kind of rep attached, and with this description: "very smooth tobacco blend with a slight creamy note and a hint of liquorice" to taste like 100% intense caramel/butterscotch.

Anyway, will send it back, at my expense, and be done with it. Either way, either the wrong juice was sent (in which case, making a customer have to do this is poor service imo), or the juice is so far off it's description, i could probably get a refund on that basis alone, not that i will bother.

Not a happy camper right now either way. So just be warned, if i was sent the correct Black Cat, it's stronger than any RY4 on the planet for caramel hit, so avoid it unless you want that :)

Just had a thought - because i seem to be in a bit of a dispute with Vape Escape over my juice tasting like 100% butterscotch and nothing like the description on their website of:

"Grizwald's Black Cat is a very smooth tobacco blend with a slight creamy note and a hint of liquorice."

Would anyone in the UK be willing to take a 5ml bottle sample from me and give it a taste test and report back? Have to send it back to VE anyway, so no big deal to put some in a spare 5ml bottle and send it at the same time.
