Black Stainless Steel RDA

I searched and couldn't find the answer.

Black Stainless, what is the deal? How do they produce black stainless and is it safe?

I want to add one to a black/copper mod but wanted some answers first.

Anyone knowledge would be appreciated.

There are a couple of ways I know of, but there may be others. One is PVD coating, the other is a chemical treatment. I'm not sure just how safe either one would be on atomizer components

That's what I was thinking if it is a coating. The heat could potentially be a problem.

I did a google search and there is no information on them so I am hoping either someone that has one could tell me or someone that knows the process for black stainless.

If it's a coating I'm going to pass.

I recently saw a reference to an acid that blackens SS, almost like a gun blued finish.
Unfortunately I didn't bookmark it, but a Google search should reveal something.
It was $20.00 a bottle plus shipping.

Thanks dhaiken, I'll have to try and find that article. If it an acid was then a good socking in everclear should take care of it. I've been trying to find some manufactures notes but no luck so far.
