I am NEVER going to Florida.... I always wanted to go scubadiving but F that. I`ll stay here in the cold North were snakes are small and gators doesnt exist
Aw...come on down! Scubadiving is great here in FL...except for an inquisitive BIG barracuda sometimes and sharks every now and then. Go where
@mongo74 suggested, and the water's clear enough that you'll at least be able to see
them, about the same time they see
you!
It's not that bad. Just steer clear of the Everglades and you'll be fine.

Head south and out the the Keys and you'll never want to leave. Islamorada for the fishing and the boating and Key West for the "sightseeing"
Speaking of sightseeing, Gasparilla is tomorrow and I'm not there to see all the lovely pirate wenches
Well, I live in the
central part of the state (many many lakes & a few rivers), and I've literally waterskiied
over an alligator in the lake when I was younger. Scared the begeebies out of me, because I fell about 50 feel later! Probably 99% of our lakes here have gators in them. So many are in a few...that they have a gator hunt at least once a year to thin out the population!
In recent years, we've had a few live alligators walking along the side of the road I live on, because they tend to "wander" during mating season. Closest water they were coming from was only about 500 acres away, across the pasture. Have also waited for a gator to cross the road on Hwy. 60, while I was driving to Vero Beach a few times. They're also plentiful over at the Space Center in Cape Kennedy. It's very easy to see them as you're driving on the property.
Sorry you're missing the Gasparilla festivities. But be thankful to not be in all the traffic mess it creates!
