The slim, light battery from the Blackberry Curve (3.7v/1mah, with some replacement parts available at over 2mah) seems something worth exploring for either a box mod or a PCC.
It has 4 terminals and I can't seem to find any pinout information on the connections, though.
Can anyone help?

You must mean either 1 Ah or 1000 mAh.
Cellphone batteries, not only blackberry's have been used in several mods before.
Some have even modded cheap cellphones into e-cigs.

There are many reasons why we almost always use the cylindrical Li-ion batteries... Price, you can get chargers, the connections are much easier and most cases like flashlights and battery boxes are ready made to pop them in.

Factory made PCC's work out of cellphone shaped batteries also.

You can search through the mods area and you will find some of the mods made with the type you suggest.

Yes I did. Apologies.

I figured as much - this is why I was hoping to find a source of more information here.

Definitely understood, but I can get Blackberry batteries for free (in limited quantities) through work, the connectors are only about $3 and there are plenty of charger options out there.
I think it could be a clean, elegant solution.

I looked specifically for Blackberry and couldn't find it.
Do you know if there are standard flat Li-Ion battery sizes available, or have people just re-used device batteries?

No mention of Blackberry mods in the forum, but here is one that will probably explain why it is not an easy format to work with for mods.

Yes you can find these batteries most anywhere they sell cellphones or batteries:

You can also run a search here on "cell phone" to see more.
