I have been using the Blu Disposable and it is too expensive. I love the taste and the vapor output, but the throat hit is much weaker than I would like (used to smoke Marlboro Reds) and isn't consistent.

There is too much to read out there and I am hoping someone can save me some time. I am a bust mom of three that runs a home business and goes to school at night..........as you can see, there is no time to learn all about e cigs.

Here are my needs........

1. Great big huge throat hit
2. Taste similar to blu or similar to regular tobacco found in Marlboro.
3. High nicotine

I have heard that the liquids are better, so I want to go with liquid, but I am concerned about the amount of time to clean and fill, so ease of use is also a big factor.

Can you please recommend (and be specific) on what I might like and where to purchase it?

Thank you so much :p

Hi Antz's !
Welcome to ECF...a great resource and forum. Lots of friendly folks to offer support.

My recommendation....
Get a vMod XL. Large battery, holds 9ml of juice...you will be good to vape as much as you need for a day or two before refilling.
You want the premier kit...has everything you need except the juice. A great unit that you won't outgrow for a long while.
Comes with one cartomizer and one atomizer...cartomizer good for a week or two, atomizer good for a month or more....better vapor production and TH with the atomizer.
Here is where you get it.....
VMOD 2.0 and VMOD XL

For juice...there are a thousand vendors....
One of the least expensive and best ECF registered vendors is Mt.Baker Vapor
USA Made Nicotine Juice, E Juice, E Liquid, Electronic Cigarette Juice
Great juice...Burro red smoker (me too- former smoker)- you want 18mg juice...
Get a couple of Flavors...you WILL NOT find a tobacco flavor that matches a burning ciggy...just not possible, and everyone has tried...
So get a couple of Flavors you might like, a fruit or two, a dessert vape...

Once you start Vaping, you will find that your 'old companions' will taste nasty !
Vaping drys you out...so drink plenty of water...helps to flush the old toxins out too.

If you need any more help...come back to ECF.
Wishing you...All The Best !

If you smoked Marlboro Reds, you probably want to start out with 24mg e-juice. I doubt 18 is going to give you enough nicotine. When you order e-juice, you will be given the option of choosing the percentage of vegetable glycerin vs. propylene glycol. If you want a higher throat hit, get more PG than VG. Also, the higher nicotine increases the throat hit too. I recommend ordering a bunch of small samples, so you can see what you like and don't like and remember what tastes great to one person, might taste like the nastiest thing on earth to you. Who knows... at some point you may want to even mix your own. I'm just now getting into that myself and it's much, much cheaper.

As far as devices go, everyone is different on those too. That said, I have heard great things about these. Click on the link and watch the videos at the bottom and see what you think.

Note: When you get a chance, you might want to look over Baditude's blog. Reading that will get you up-to-speed really fast.

Hi busy mom,

I typed up a looooong response with a lot of good info....then clicked the wrong button and lost it all :p

DJ hit on a lot of good points. I would like to say that a great and cheap starter kit is available at Vape Dojo
It's called the Katana kit....I think it's $12 or $13...but it comes with a nice ego battery that should last you almost all day, a tank to hold your juice, and a charger. It's a pretty good deal considering the blu disposables are somewhere around $7 a pop.

Open yourself up to new flavors...trust me, everyone wants tobacco flavors in the beginning. We all eventually realize that nothing will replicate the flavor of an analog cig...and then you'll wonder why you even wanted the taste of tobacco in the first place.

A good source for tobacco flavors, however is Johnson Creek Smoke juice. They make the flavors for Blu ecigs, so they should translate well to what you're already used to.

And don't be scared of ecigs being too complicated. Most, including that Katana kit, are literally just fill up your tank and go. A normal vaper will probably need to charge their battery every night and fill their tank every morning. Takes maybe a minute.

Here are some good discount sites to shop online:

DiscountVapers - Your source for savings on electronic cigarettes and accessories, Go-go eGo, vGo
Welcome to VaporAlley - Your home for the best electronic cigarettes, e-cig supplies and American Made e juice.

My personal recommendation? Get a nice eGo battery (the more mAh the longer it'll last) get some nice tanks (vivi nova, iClear 30, CE4/5) and a bottle or two of juice.

Welcome aboard! :)

Great info, thanks.......are these "tanks" something I can transport and do they look something like a huge cigarette or are they actual glass tanks? I was hoping to find something that isn't too conspicuous carrying around.

Absolutely, in fact most main-stream ecigs are designed for just that purpose....to look like a real cig. But I guarentee they will be over-priced and under-perform. I don't know too much about them because, luckilly, I skipped that step and went straight from the Blu to an eGo. But bookmark this thread, because I promise you in a month or two you'll own a a few eGo batteries and a few tanks :)

In my personal experience I found that an ego 650mAh passthrough kit was a good starter as you can vape while its charging. If you want to try a MOD but noy spend too much as a beginner Id recommend the Vamo (best price for feature). If you do go the way of Mods (As we all do eventually) keep in mind you still need to buy batteries and a charger.

For the Throat Hit it is all in the nicotine level and % of PG (propylene glycol). The heat youll be looking for you will find in a top coil rather than a bottom coil which tend to have a cooler vape (although I am loving my kanger pro and evods at the moment).

If you absolutly have to have an analog looking ecig... the Bloog Maxxfusion and the Volt seem to get ok reviews... I have ordered a volt for my wife since for some reason she wants one that looks like an analog. I can let you know how it performs when it gets here. but keep in mind the battery life is horrible so youll probably want to get the PCC for which ever unit you go with.

I really gotta start googling this stuff before I ask. So, OK, I know what a mod is. What do you recommend based on my needs? More specifically, what do I buy??????? With regards to purchasing the liquid, when I buy the high nicotine, will I then have the option to define what PG level I would like or is that predetermined based on the liquid I buy?

I just got my 2nd e-cig kit, a Joye-ECab. Some say it's for beginners but I like the small size. A tank system can be big or small, just depends what you pick. Also another inconspicuous system is a Joye-ERoll which is smaller than the Cab.
Yes disposables are expensive, I did not stay on them long before getting my first kit which is about the size of a medium cigar.

Read Baditude's blog. It will answer a lot of questions for you really quickly. Click here.

I told you already what I would buy, if I were you.
