A month ago, I ordered 2 30ml bottle and 2 100ml bottles of Boba's. I finished up a 30ml bottle, and refilled it from the 100ml bottle.

It has come to my attention that the juice in the 30ml bottles is different than the juice in the 100ml bottles. To use coffee terms, the 100ml is "brighter" than the 30ml bottle. The juice looks different, the smaller bottle is a lot darker in color.

Just opening them and smelling I can smell the difference, it's very obvious. Unfortunately, I don't like the juice in the larger bottles. It lacks the dark graham cracker taste that I love.

Has anyone else noticed this? This isn't the first time this has happened to me. About a year ago I ordered a 100ml bottle that was the same and I never finished it. It's just not for me.

Here's a picture of the two, the one on the left is the stuff from the 100ml bottle:

here's a likely cause of this. Most juices will change slightly in flavor or color over time from exposure to either light or air. With AVE juices I find that anything stored in the smaller clear bottles will darken a lot quicker than juices stored in the 100ml green bottles. I've only ordered BB, GJ and Hype in 100ml bottles before and have noticed this with all three. Sure, there can be some slight differences from bottle to bottle since it's mixed to order, but what you describe seems in my experience to be a result of the particular bottles

If it was only the color, I wouldn't have posted about it

Well, I did mention in my post that flavor is affected as well as color. Basically, the juice begins to steep as soon as it's mixed, so there is likely to be a noticeable difference right from the get-go when you receive your order between the two bottle types. I'm sure Ben will explain it similarly

So if he steeped in a clear 100ml bottle, he wouldn't experience this?

Not as quickly, no. The steeping process occurs faster in small bottles than large ones. I can't really explain why, because I don't know, but it does. That's why I'll usually transfer stuff from large bottle to small ones for steeping -- it speeds the process up.

So I doubt this is a problem with the juice; just a natural effect of having steeped them in different containers.

:rickroll::rickroll::toast::rickroll:the difference between steeping and storing is the daily shaking. I wish there was a smaller version of those machines you see in hardware stores that shake up paint cans, but for bill bottle size jars! Sorry, don't mean to hijack this thread. Just venting 'cuz the older or lazy I get the more annoying it is to shake things for so long. :rickroll:

I ordered 100ml after trying a 6ml sample and the 100ml bottle has nowhere near the flavor of the 6ml. I've had it steeping I guess about 3 weeks now and the flavor has changed for the better somewhat but it's still fairly bland compared the what I got out of the initial 6ml sample. I'm experimenting and seeing if I can replicate or beat the boba flavor using ecblends "make your own flavor". We'll see.

i do notice a slight difference from time to time. i almost always order 100 mls though. i love it either way but i have had smaller bottles that seem to be a little stronger on the flavoring. ive tried DIY and also ordered 1000's of dollars worth of different juices and ive never tasted anything better no matter what size bottle it came out of.

I posted a support ticket on avejuice.com, we'll see what happens.

I did refill the smaller bottle from the bigger one, so if this is a "steeping" issue, I guess I'll know in due time. However, I highly doubt that's it. I have purchased 100ml bottles before that were the same flavor & smell as the 30ml bottles, so either they were sitting on the shelf for a while or the ratios are different.

I'd be more inclined to think it was a steeping issue if the flavors weren't so drastically different.

I do think it's odd that I'm not the only one who has noticed this, but that no one else has asked about it.

Our recipe is the same going into a 30ml, 12ml, or 100ml bottle. The only difference is the bottles themselves. We bought the dark green 100ml bottles because they were dark. Luckily, we found out early in our business that, as Killjoy stated, air and light change the properties of e-liquids (liquid nicotine specifically and anything it reacts with in the mix)

To be clear. We use a recipe for every bottle we fill. There are no "batches" in our business unless you count each individual bottle as a "batch". We DO NOT pull liquid from the shelves to fill orders. In this way we can accept returns and have a definitive idea of where any problems occur when they occur.

If you ever feel you need to return a juice or product just jump over to our FAQ for our return information. We are always available for returns/replacements/exchanges/swap-outs/go-backsies/not-what-I-expecteds.

Ben,

That last line there is pretty key for me. So, if I do choose to return a bottle that I believe is a different flavor, then someone may indeed check the bottle and see if it's true. And if that happens, something may be done about it?

I've actually posted in this forum trying to find a solution to the bottle shaking. It is a HUGE expenditure of time when we mix each bottle to order. I've got some awesome ideas but no engineer to make it a reality (*shakes fist at stupid English Major*)
