Hello!

Last week I dissected a boge 2.0 carto that one of my friends held down on for too long, causing the poly to burn, rendering it useless. Curious as I am, decided to dissect it and see exactly how it works. Here are a few pics.

The last pic is a close up of a little strip I pulled out with the polyfill. It was toward the battery end of the carto. While the polyfill was clean (aside from where it got charred), that strip has all sorts of yellow blotches on it.

Any idea what this is and whether or not it's harmful?

thanks!

PG is an antiseptic and cannot provide an environment for mold.
:vapor:

that's good to hear!! does vg share these qualities? =)

I clean my cartos with water, blow out, and let sit overnight...could mold grow then? I wonder what the purpose of that strip is, and why it had cooked on juice while most of the polyfill was white...

thank you!

JMO I think what caused that discoloring is the VG. It is vegetable glycerin. Most vegetable based oils or glycerins when heated to a certain degree will scorch and stain, especially an absorbant material like cotton or polyester. Those are almost impossible to get out once they are burned in. Wouldn't be to worried.

The strip provides a barrier so the coil doesnt come in direct contact with the polyfil, as it could melt. That strip takes the brunt of the beating. That strip is silica wick if Im not mistaken..and wont even melt over open flame, but liquid will still cook around it.

Hmm I thought the wick was the little white cylinder above it? in the picture above =p

Man it looks like your friend burned the hell out of that thing! I've dissected every carto I ever got a burnt taste from and never came near those levels of pure char. Tell that guy to go easy on those things!

I know!! messed it up real good. He just said it tasted funny, handed it to me, I took a puff, and was like ZOMG!!11!
