I just got into the habit to boil my wicks when they come in. What I do find is that when I boil my EKowool, there is no need to torch it. Good clean taste. Another little tip, some might want to but its not necessary. I wet my wicks and blot them a bit before I wrap them. It helps to get a good wrap and then you dont have to worry about compensating for swelling when saturated. Then you can sort of kill 2 birds, you can dry the wick off while making sure your coils are all glowing right.

Thanks for that!! I had a Forum member tell me to do that with silica wicks and it worked like a charm. I'm glad to know you can do it with Ekwool too! I probably would have given up on rebuilding coils had I now gotten this advice. Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone tried sheathing a ss mesh wick with Ekowool? That is my current setup with my RSST but I have had mixed results with the Ekowool falling apart while i'm trying to wrap the coils or just even holding it. It tastes great but it's a pain to do...any suggestions?

Ive done it Id rather just use the mesh buy its self. I also tried to thread a coil inside the ecowool and one out side that didnt work out so well but it was a couple hours of pure frustrating fun;-)

I just tried something that I did with regular silica and I answered my own question...Torch the Ekowool! Do it as long as you want...longer the better. It not only makes it holds it's shape better and in turn has less fraying, it cleans off any impurities on it. Just stuck a round straight metal pick I had down the middle and torched it for a good 1-2 mins. Was able to slide the ss mesh wick in and coil with no problems. Hope the helps the next person trying the same.
