Sorry, Baditude.

I have to completely disagree with this.

There's a marked degree higher risk with a hobby level RC.

In 2012, for example, there was an incident where a world renowned competition 3D flyer took the top of his head off when he lost control of his heli for a couple milliseconds killing him instantly.

And there are hobby aircraft that break the sound barrier.

And hobby cars are nearing the 200mph mark.

At these speeds and with limited range, either by controller or sight limitations, the vessel and its battery is never more than a couple seconds from impact of the person controlling it or an innocent bystander.

And the controller in your hand will likely have several cells in it, more often the more unstable lipo.

Tapatyped

was the accident related to venting batteries???

This one Screams Karma!!!!!

Claims Hot in Pocket

Burns to side of face/ear, Neck, T-shirt..............hmmmm

Vape prank in Class gone wrong? o_O

What is the Legal Age to partake in that town? :grr:
How does this scream karma? It was someone else's vape. The boy that got hurt never touched the vape. It was always in the other boy's possession.

The thing I'm unimpressed by is the boy who owned the vape was reportedly more worried about the hole that was burned into his jacket than the injuries sustained by the victim.

My apologies......... No disrespect to the victim.
Completely misread the article:facepalm:
Under age in violation of Law and School Policy and not smart enough to properly secure a Dangerous Device.
The guilty Student and his parents will hopefully be made to atone.

People (young Adults)need to understand actions have consequences.

Again my apologies for the remark.

And again, someone that shouldn't have had an ecig to start with. So it's now cool if I buy my 11yo son a can of dip? No worries if I get him a pack of smokes? Yeah, no worries there, but if I get him an ecig all is fine? I bet the first time I buy a kid an ecig I wont make it to the parking lot without being cuffed! How the Hell was the kid getting dip to start with? Why do we need to fix his illegal addiction with vaping?
EVERYTHING about this story just pisses me off! Stupid kid gets nicotine illegally, mom and dad buy things he's not competent enough to use safely, but now it's the unsafe ecigs fault?
Oh, I know, maybe raise your kid, spend some time with them and teach them right from wrong! What happens when the little :censored: head (lets call it what it is) breaks into a house, steals a gun and shoots someone. Yeah, we have to blame the gun, we all know they are dangerous and can go off randomly! Gotta be the gun, because "my kid is prefect"! Yeah, yeah your kid is perfect, I can't imagine how your little angel got hooked on nicotine, but it's good on you for buying him an ecig that neither of you are smart enough to use! Great parenting skills!
Again, no one wants to take responsibility for their own actions, and heaven forbid we lie any fault upon the child, so we must blame those nasty, unsafe ecigs! Someone must pay for my child's stupidity because I'm a lousy parent that needs a quick paycheck!
Everyone has their hand out nowadays, it's all about figuring out who you can screw without taking any responsibility of your own.

Yep, batteries never explode in a regulated mod.

Beg to differ.

ECF Member, 2013(?) Dropped MPV onto carpeted floor and burst into flames.
Damaged carpet and front of Dresser(IIRC) before he could get it into the Bathroom.

Crap happens.

You missed the dripping sarcasm in that post my friend! I've watched a Zmax go into melt down when the board fried. None of us were brave enough to grab it and pull the battery! We just used a pair of pliers and chucked it out on the driveway!

WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE! We just don't know when or how yet!

That sounds like a Government statement
Apples are Red so oranges must be acidic!

Clones Have NOTHING to do with using Cheap batteries, Poor Maintenance or ignoring Ohms law.
Are you saying a Crap battery in an Authentic mod will not blow up? Sorry, WRONG!

A Mod is not a Power source and is subjected to said force. It is otherwise a beinine chunk of metal waiting to be abused.
Actually what I have learned is, iStick 50 watt clones were catching on fire. I could be mixe dup with the actual authentic versions. Listen I just want to vape without catching on fire. I hear mech mods unregulated devices can ignite just from your keys in your pockets touching them. I'm far from a Government official. When I see people's devices catching on fire it makes me think maybe it can happen to me. The vape community doesn't buy my ..... If i have an opinion and think something's unsafe I'm stating it. Vaping is great but I'm not drooling over it. Nor do I buy every .......n thing that comes out because honestly every mod that comes out looks the same as the last mod.

And every mod that "blows up", did so because somebody was misusing it. The "blow up" is due to battery venting, (progressing into thermal runaway in some cases), because of a dead short or pushing the battery beyond its amp limits due to an improper build. You'll have no problem, unless you do something similarly stupid.
I agree but you gotta look at it from a person who doesn't vape. People who just start should not buy unregulated mods. And that's where I think the problem is.

Mech mods don't explode or catch fire from keys in a pocket. Mech mods might go off if they are placed in a pocket and not locked, but it's not from keys in a pocket. I believe what you are referring to is batteries placed in a pocket without being put in a protective case. Keys, and loose change, WILL cause them to short and explode.
I'm sorry, but there is getting to be so much disinformation put out about mech mods right now it's getting tiresome. Mechs are as safe as anything out there, it's just a matter of how smart you are when you use them!
Again, I'm getting more fearful of multiple battery regulated mods starting to blow up, from lack of battery safety knowledge, than I am of mechs in the next year.
