I got it back out and took photos. While I do feel those differences you mention, it still doesn't get it to fit. It is off in millimeters of space, sadly.

Oh my! I see!

I was looking through my inventory list for something else and it shows I have two Crypt boros. So I looked through my Vaperz Cloud stuff and sure enough, there are two of them. I grabbed one and grabbed a SXK Billet Box and it is snug. Not tight enough to get wedged in there. At first I thought it had to be perfectly level to fit. But playing with it I can put either the top or the bottom part half way in and tilt the other end in and it drops right in. Pretty much like the original boro does. Almost no play left and right. And quite a bit up and down. Picture shows it completely up.

Gosh... it is pretty dirty under magnification.

If that isn't a clone BB then it may have been re-painted which could account for the tight boro fit.

Indeed. I can tell you that the Crypt boro just fits right and left in an anodized Billet Box. If it is painted, I doubt if it will fit. It's that close.

While the concept of paint not letting the tank fit never crossed my mind before, it does make sense. Absolutely wild that VaperzCloud didn't account for any kind of tolerance for it. But I've been around to know that... That's just how vaping goes sometimes. I'm not terribly hung up on it beyond the fact that I just can't find what I'm looking for. I liked those because they were the right colors, had that front facing fill port, and the base did not require that 3D Printed insert thingy the boros with feet need.

Glad I found this thread. Glad I thought to come back here. This has been a sad project, I admit.

Let's have a little fun. The image is mockups of the clones I'm thinking of. Which ones ya'll like?

I find that the Droid atty isn't the prettiest coolest atty I've ever vaped but damm the flavor Im getting out of it is amazing. I used the largest air intake and it was good. I removed the air intake plug and vape it without the plug and its still just as good with alot more vaper. Now I know why they say don't judge a book by it's cover... I want to thank the guys over at VaporDNA for this great little Christmas gift

You hit right on the nose @Pigs, its been painted with a heavy coat of paint. I could see it just by looking at the pictures....

    Calling the experts.

I have a couple of SXK DNA 60 Billet Boxes. A few days ago I took one out of the stash after not using it for a year. It works perfectly except that the screen is dim. Maybe half brightness. I can still read the large print like power, but for the small numbers I need a magnifier.

I googled around a bit and found a DNA60 manual. There doesn't seem to be an option to adjust screen brightness. Except for stealth mode which doesn't work for me.

Does this mean my screen is dying?

I googled some more and found instructions for replacing a screen and it didn't seem too hard.

Kat and I were just discussing this last night, Mick. We're experiencing it with a few of our mods, actually. Some DNA, but others not. One JAC (DNA75) one Wismec and one VO Dagger, each of which are different chips.

Our best guess is that screens have a lifespan.

Maybe someone more educated than me can delve deeper, but I'm guessing that we'll be chucking mods as they die. I hope I'm wrong.

That sometimes happens @DPLongo22. Luckily DNA boards newer than DNA40 use ZIF connections and thus screens are easy enough to swap out. Screens are 15 bucks or less. There are three DNA screens. Small (two rows) and large (three rows) for monochrome screens. And there are color screens which they're only one kind.

Thanks, Bill. That's kind of what we thought.

As for swapping stuff out, that's for you folks who aren't all thumbs.

They do have limited lifespans. Decades ago the numbers were like 50,000 on hours for the screens. Nowadays I'm sure it is much higher now. But I am not in the same camp as most. As I believe a lot of mods will outlive most of us without a problem. Probably the highest failure of regulated mods is the fire button. As they are expected to last so many presses and that is it. But some like DNA fire buttons can be dissembled right on the board and cleaned. So you're good to go again.

But sometimes the stars are just aligned right or something. And some things last well beyond their expected lifespans. :D

Only mods that happened to me with before is Pico. I have one that is almost completely blank now and a couple more that are really dim. Those tended to blink out one small area at a time rather than going dim all over.

Do you happen to know what size the screen is on the BB. I notice there are three rows on the regular screen, for ohms, volts, and amps. Does that mean large?

Any tips on where to buy them?
