Hi,

I bought two e-cigs when I was on vacation in New Mexico this summer. I had never seen them before and thought it would be great to get me off my weekend smoking habit. :) Obviously I have questions and comments like any new user, because really they are not very available in Holland--if at all (are they?).

1) So, for the first obvious question, I need you to bear with me. I'm sure it is one of the most asked questions, but I just don't know my way around the forums yet. What are good places to order liquids from that are cheap, good quality and deliver world-wide (i.e. to The Netherlands)?

I bought three bottles for me e-Go something (no idea of the model, weird... I got a pouch with it but no instructions, booklet, warranty, description or anything. Is that normal?). They are Marlboro, Straight Rum and Vanilla (which I find too sickly sweet, bah). I'd like to try Menthol, because with my currently in use e-cig, the flavour isn't really that pronounced. Any experiences/suggestions?

2) The first e-cig I got was a black cigarette-style one... it sucked to the point of barely working compared to the one I use now (the e-Go with a little transparent compartment where I put the liquid in without any foam to drench--it can contain a LOT more). The cigarette-style one uses a refillable compartment (is that the cartridge?) with a foam-like white substance that you need to drench... seriously, they sold me that in a mall for $75 without liquids. The e-Go was $55 *with* a bottle of e-liquid (from a smoke shop in Rio Rancho).

Are these things still so unregulated then? I felt ripped off.

3) I sometimes miss the feeling of dragging from a real cigarette. The e-Go pulls it off, especially when I haven't used it in a long while, but soon I seem to get used to it, or the e-cig gets flooded or whatever happens... I want to feel it when I inhale and sometimes there is a lot of vapour, but still no real cigarette-like inhalation feeling. Is that related to heat? Do I need to press the button longer?

It could also be related to the battery always running out. A fresh battery seems to work better than one that has been used a while. But perhaps I should be looking into stronger batteries that do the work for me.

Can I buy stronger batteries online that work with my current e-Go? And how do I know what works on it, anyway... I mean, in the smoke shop a lot of batteries we tried (I bought an extra one) did not work at all and they looked exactly the same. They said I need a "newer style" battery; the old ones don't work.

Lots of newbie questions, but then again, vaping seems to be a pretty recent thing, relatively. So I hope that's okay.

So, reading the beginner's guide (sorry, just found it ), I guess the difference between the two e-cigs I bought is:

- 2-piece (cartomizer) models
- 3-piece (atomizer and cartridge) models

So my 2-piece cartomizer is pretty much useless to me and more expensive too. It hardly produces any vapour at all. Inconvenient to use, too. Battery dies fast, doesn't hold much liquid and leaks like hell. And it was more expensive.

I'm learning. :)

The cheap/easy solution to the throat hit issue is your cartomizers and juice. Cartomizers come in different resistance ratings- I use a Boge 2 ohm, and that gives me a nice warm vape. That's the part you really get to fiddle with and find out just what you like.

I haven't touched an eGo in over a year- but there are lots of nifty PV's out there. I'd suggest something with at least a 1000 mah battery- the more mah (milliamp hours) the longer you can go without charging it. Mall rents are high...it feels like a ripoff, but the upside of the mall places is that you can try them before you buy them.

Once you get your post count up you'll be able to post in country specific forums, and they usually have good information about suppliers, and can help you in Dutch if you need it.
Welcome and Good Luck!

Hi, and thanks for your reply!

One of the problems is that I got zero information with my eGo, like how powerful the battery is. I did get to try it out in the smoke shop; they were really friendly. I would like to upgrade at some point, but I have no idea what would work on it.

Maybe better to just get a new one later on...

P.S. Getting my post count up right now. ;)

P.P.S. I really miss the food, for any New Mexicans that may be out here... sigh.

Welcome to the Vaping World!
Just a heads up about the Netherlands... if i'm not wrong I think Ecigs are forbidden in your Country. As strange as it looks the land with free ........ actually banned Ecigs!!!
I tell you this before you make an big order and the customs seizes it, perhaps you need someone in the States or another legal Country who buys your gear and send it to you in an more anonymous form then offficial suppliers.
But go for it... ti is so worth it!!!

Nederlands (Holland) - Court decision: electronic cigarettes not a drug
26/06/2012

The (Holland) Ministry of Health can no longer call electronic cigarettes from the United Tobacco Vapor Group (UTVG) a drug. The court in The Hague determined this on Tuesday morning, on appeal. This means that the so-called e-cigarettes from this manufacturer may be sold everywhere now.

In an explanatory statement, the court stated that there is insufficient scientific evidence that the UTVG e-cigarette has a significant pharmacological effect on the user. Moreover, the court considers it likely that this type of cigarette is bought by consumers for pleasure, rather than as a product to quit smoking. The court cites the decision of Minister Schippers at the beginning of year as possibly 'illegal'.

The ruling comes after the state had lost when an earlier injunction against UTVG was overturned in court. After several years of uncertainty, the Health Ministry had been certain in January that a nicotine-containing e-cigarette could be seen as a medicine. This meant that the e-cigarette could only be sold with a license from the Medicines Evaluation Board (MEB).

The Ministry based its decision on the situation in neighboring countries such as Belgium, Germany [1], Denmark, France and Britain [2], where the product was also regarded as a medicine.
[This statement is untrue - see notes.]

Now no longer a drug, UTVG CBG can sell e-cigarettes without authorization. UTVG e-cigarettes can be sold in the Netherlands under the names Flavor Vapes, Vape Master, Premium, and Envy Want Vape. E-cigarettes are pending a final clarification on a limited number of places in stores such as Primera. It is estimated that tens of thousands of Dutch people use e-cigarettes.

The other vendors of e-cigarettes are still studying the ruling, says Betty van Veen Shots of VapeCheaper, the association of vendors of e-cigarettes in the Netherlands. "We will talk with VWS about retailing our products or, if preferable, we will go to court to enforce sales."

Can you post a picture of your ego? There's a lot of clones out there. For $55 from a retail store I'm guessing you only got one battery with it?

I got just one battery for the $55, but I bought an extra battery for $15... here's a picture I just took. Obviously, I'm using the one on the right (eGO) right now, as it tastes one hell of a lot better and produces more vapour. Any information about what I've actually got here would be appreciated. :)

Interesting tale about the legality of these things over in Holland! I know much is still unknown about the health effects of vaping in the long term and it is still very unregulated... but it's been sold for over 5 years now elsewhere!

I've personally never seen anyone vape in The Netherlands... I wonder how people will react, especially outside designated smoking areas in bars. :)

P.S. I should note that even though I smoke less to no analog cigarettes now and see myself as not smoking them at all anymore in the future, I'm using the e-cig much more than I ever did real cigarettes!
