Bouncing a battery to see if it's dead? News...

    Battery bounce test often bounces off target

    Yea, it's just for primary (non-rechargable) cells but I thought it was interesting in case you might have heard of this being tried on rechargable cells too. Rare to see a video that so clearly demonstrates what's being discussed!

    Interesting article, I never heard that before! (This comes from a 9V "battery-licker").

    However, the effect they are describing is very specific to the chemistry of zinc batteries (disposable, non-rechargeable). I doubt it would apply to the batteries used for PV's (and even if it did, whether the bounciness would be a good or bad thing).

    It's not hard to figure out the health of a rechargeable if you have a good charger. See how long it takes to charge, what current it draws while charging, etc.
