What POPULAR model have you tried and completely failed to see what all the fuss is about it? 510? KR808D-1? A mod? Something that gets rave reviews everywhere but YOU tried and don't like it...

For me it's the KR808D-1. This thing is pointless - you might as well be sucking on a dead battery. THERE'S NO VAPOR. WHY do people love these things? Sure, there's the convenience factor, and throat hit, and flavor - but THERE'S NO VAPOR. I've used four models and this wins hands down on LOW vapor production. And it's not the battery, as it works great with a 901 atomizer (that combo wins MOST vapor for me), so it's got to be the cartomizers. I've had blanks that I filled, I've tried a little juice, I've tried a lot of juice, I've had regular pre-filled cartomizers - nothing. I've done the centrifugal force thing, I've used VG, PG, nothing helps. Oh and I line up the holes too. I think I give up.

Turns out I LOVE the 510 when I finally tried one though! :)

I have the 510 and I like it, but I like and use the KR808D-1 much more. Yes, I get more vapor from the 510, but not that much more. The KR808D-1 produces a more consistent vapor. I do not understand how you can say that you are not getting much vapor. Like I said, I get more vapor from my 510 when it is working at top efficiency, but really not that much more. I would give the KR808D-1 a bit more time, I take a slow, “double or triple drag” and get more than enough vapor. Overall, I like both units and these are the only two I have.

Similar here. It seems esp. with cartomizers I get fairly good vapor, on every other drag? lol. The 'mega' 280mAh KR batt lasts 2 hours where I get 3-4 with the 510 and that puzzles me. The thing is manual and yet has a cutoff. Sigh.

The cartos I've had have an underlying off flavor to them. I don't know if it's shipping fluid in the atty that you simply can't blow out or what. And have yet to find any flavor that is really good. 555 from VK has been the best and it's average. I would really like it to work and I'm not giving up - I just got some blank cartos and a syringe and I'm going to fill my own with some good juice. Driving with the 555 carto on the Bartleby has been the best experience so far. They do last longer than a refill on a 510 cart but with the flavors I've had that hasn't been a plus so far ;-)

For me, vapor volume is simply not as important as richness of flavor and throat hit. I don't want great vapor at the expense of these qualities, so I love my KR808D-1. (And because I stealth vape a lot, too much vapor is a bad thing.)

My Vapor King batteries last a LONG time - not true with many other models.

I also don't want to spend my time dripping or fussing with cart mods. I see too many complaints about other models when it comes to this aspect.

To each his own, I guess.

In answer to the OP's question, I don't see all the fuss about the 510. IMO, it is just too much work. Don't get me wrong, I still use it for dripping some of my favorite liquids, but so much hassle with attys is my biggest problem with it. Talk about not consistent! Maybe if you replace your atty every few days, but I don't want to spend the money doing that. Especially when the kr808 satisfies all my needs. Refills last a long time. Atty is consistent, in my experience, flavors are better, TH is much better.
The longer batteries for the kr808 sealed the deal for me.

The KR808D VK has been my new favorite PV. At first I was disappointed in the vapor production compared to my 510 or 801, I had begun to drip which I loved for best vape due to cartridge hassles...

However after giving it more time, and changing my "pulling" technique I found there was plenty of vapor after all...more than I ever got from an analog. The convenience of the cartomizer's long lasting qualities along with acceptable vapor, good throat hit, good nic delivery won me over...also my XL manual batts last all day!

I agree with Kent that the pre-filled carto flavors have an underlying chemical taste that leave me trying many flavors, the refillability (hold alot of liquid) though is great and I enjoy my other juices much more in the cartomizers after the factory stuff is vaped away...

All in all I've found the crazy vapor production from the 510 and 801 is not as important as I once thought!! I was always saying WOW but then flapping my hands to see the TV or a person I was talking to! :)

I'm mainly a 401 user too, but one of the things "wrong" with it is you'll be vaping along beautifully then it will just stop working and it takes a few HARD drags to get it to kick on again.

901 is great except for a harsh burnt taste you get a lot.

510 - flavor is bad, but other than that it's fine (though I only have one and have only had it for a week. It's one of the cheap knockoffs too but other than the flavor thing I love it.)

Now as I'm reading these replies I'm using my KR8 and wouldn't you know, it's suddenly produce ALL THIS VAPOR. It seems like you have to work at it with this model though, or it takes a carto two days of use to start actually working right.

But right now I think my favorite honest to god favorite is the cheap off brand 510 that Mad Vapes is selling. That thing is a little power house.

I've tried the 401 but just wasn't satisfied with it. Decent flavor but low vapor production for my tastes.
My current favorite is also the 510 disposables that madvape is selling right now. I have a couple of homebuilt Nicostick style battery packs that I made (using madvape DIY parts), and the 14500 Ultra Fire battery in conjunction with the 510 disposable atty is perfect for me. Just enough vapor production to satisfy my throat hit requirements, and very good flavor along with a long lasting battery. I also use the ball point pin spring modification in my carts, so that could contribute to the good combo of vapor / taste that I'm experiencing.

Well I started with the 801 and it does produce a lot of vapor but it eats auto batts at an alarming rate! So i made several Nico box mods, that solved batt problem but the attys leak all the time:-x I then got a 510,great vapor and throat hit,but crap batt life:-x Bought a Bartleby and WOW! I did the spring mod on the carts and WOW again very happy with this setup:D 4 or 5 hours with 14500 battery and usb passthru. I then ordered a DPV9 and wow this a great e-cig:D Cartomizers go hours before refill and battery life is good too, good throat hit and the pcc is pretty cool! I now use both the Bartleby and DPV9 with equal enjoyment. Cant go wrong with either one. Happy vaping!!

I've never heard of the DPV9 but I see mention of the Bartleby frequently. Which one do you like better?
