Breaking in new cartos?

Hello,

I'm new to vaping, bought one 3 weeks ago and have not smoked a real cig now for 12 days. It has worked so well for me and my wife I convinced both my parents to order kits.

Me and my wife started out with a kit I bought in a smoke shop on an impulse. Bought some prefilled cartomizers, and ordered juice from FSUSA the same day for refills. I quit the day I got that order (needed higher nic juice) and everything was going well.

FF to today, when the mega 510 carto kits I ordered from madvapes.com for my parents and myself arrived in the mail. I was really excited to get them going, filled up a cart with the 24mg Marlboro that came with it, took a drag ... and coughed my lungs out! The TH was a trainwreck, way to harsh! I filled a few carts with some of the juice I got from FSUSA and got the same results

So I'm feeling a little stressed out because there is no way my parents can use something like this. But I kept puffing on one of my carts, and I noticed after about 15-20 puffs the TH mellowed down quite a bit and was no longer forcing me or my father to cough. Did this with the other cartos I loaded and experienced the same thing.

Is this normal for a fresh blank carto? I'll work with it if so, but if other cartos out there don't have this issue I'd like to find another supplier for them. Madvapes has been awesome though, even threw in 2 free 10ml juice samples with my order.

You could try mixing the liquid with VG - vegetable glycerin - to decrease the strength. If you want 1/2 the strength, mix 1/2 VG and 1/2 liquid that you ordered in a separate bottle. Experiment with the proportions until you find the right strength.

You can get VG at Walmart. At my Walmart, it's located on the shelf just above the isopropyl rubbing alcohol in the pharmacy section. It's called Glycerin with a USP shown above the "n" in Glycerin, and it's in a 6 oz (177 mL) clear bottle with a white, red, and navy blue label.

Mixing with VG also helps to make your e-liquid last longer. I'll be buying the highest strength I can (like 36 mL or 48 mL) and mix it with VG to "cut" the strength down to about 11 or 12 mg of nicotine. The Glycerin bottle at Wal-Mart is $2.99 plus tax and will last a long time.

Disregard the juice cutting if the juice was fine in other cartos. It sounds like you did not give the juice time to wick properly, so the first few drags were dry.

If the nic was too high, they would never "mellow out"

Try filling them, then allowing them to sit, battery connector down, for a few minutes before taking a drag

If that doesn't help, then try cutting down the nic. Keep in mind that cutting will reduce flavor as well.

Thanks for the advice, I'll give this a shot the next time I fill up a new carto.

Already let my parents know that after a few days if the TH is still to much I'll pick up some VG for them to cut it with until I put in another order and can get some 0 mg flavors to cut it with.

My cartos vape much better (after refilling) when I let them sit overnight (threaded end down).

I tend to take to hard a draw when I start a new carto. That makes me cough, same as the first few puffs in the morning.

I just overfill a carto a little bit. Juice is fairly cheap anyway and I am not worried about a few drops. Then I place the threaded end into a paper towel and give the carto a good blow through. No waiting and I get uniform distribution of liquid through carto.
