Bubba The Love Sponge Show to review the e-cig live on the air!

For those that don't know of this guy he is a shock jock that likes to tell it the way it is. No BS. He is a very powerful voice on the airwaves. He has many followers around the country called "The Bubba Army"
He has a morning show live on the air throughout the state of Florida and also has a national syndicated show in the afternoon on Sirius Satellite Radio's Howard 101

Yesterday on Bubba's show he had mentioned the e-cig saying what he had heard about it he thought it was a neat product. I had personally called the show and told him that the FDA had placed a ban on them and are ready to enforce actions to prevent the e-cig from being available to the public as an alternative choice to smoking. He told his show members quote " WE NEED TO PURCHASE A E-CIG ASAP"
He then said that he had not heard of a ban from the FDA on the e-cig and would look into it.
I had told him live on the show that I believed Big tobacco had a part in the decision on the ban the FDA placed. His show members knowing nothing about facts said that the could see this to easily be the case.. and it was then left at that.

I had emailed his show a bunch of facts and quotes from members here (hope you people don't mind) to get him up to speed on what is really going on with the e-cig.

Members of this forum need to contact the show with comments about the e-cig and plead our case. Bubba in a way is anti government and has large resources to get things done.
He does not like Big corporate and or government messing with the "little guy" and Will expose all who he find true in doing so.

This is a great opportunity for us to gain some leverage in our campaign to fight the FDA's decision. SO, Start typing people!

No not exactly sure. Has orderd a e-cig but don't know from where. Hope not from a slow boat from China LOL. I guess when he gets it and has the time to do some homework. Im serious people. We need to hammer this guy with our concerns. Like him or not. He tells it like it is. We need to plead our case and now.

when did that happen? I heard they were stopping imports, but there are still people selling them in malls so I am pretty sure they are not banned.

They are not illegal to market or sell. The FDA currently claims that they fall under the jurisdiction of their organization, and are blocking imports in some cases. That's the extent of the 'ban'.

technically speaking you are correct, according to the FDA anyway:

"Marketing e-cig is in violation of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act Section 505 (21 USC 355), which prohibits any induction of new drug without the FDA approval."

People are debating whether or not it should be considered a new drug, however the FDA has already deemed it a new drug which means technically it is illegal to market these in the U.S.

...they just havent been strictly enforcing yet is the way it appears right now. Apparently there are legal experts who think it is debatable in court...but i have a feeling that whatever the FDA says ends up being the official bottom line for now until something changes.

Ahh yes, I remember Bubba when he was up here...

When I was a kid, he worked in the Chicago market for a few years and was let go. After that he lasted about a year in the Milwaukee market. Too much shock and not enough jock for us, I guess.

But, if he's helping more than harming, all the better.
