Kewl. So you didn't do any height adjustments, only lengthened it? I guess for my large screen ones I will do the same. I have been putting it off; afraid to pull the trigger on grinding out the window.

I did on my blue cloupor enclosure and found it too tall, that's how I found out. You can almost see the edge of the physical screen if you really try. It's not a big deal but I knew it could be better so for the mini, I took measurements from the blue. I dremel'd the display window toward the USB connector and just filed off the anodizing on the other side so the opening was uniformly bare aluminum rather than half anodized, half bare. I finished the opening with needle files I picked up from Harbor Freight. I'm very happy with how the mini came out.

One more magnet question for the pros... I have 3mmX3mm magnets from FT. I was hoping to find a 3mm drill bit but I didn't have one. I went to Home Depot and the guy there said they don't carry them. Just a 2.78 and a 3.18. This is just the conversion from the standard sizes. I am thinking of either using the 2.78 and reaming it out a bit but not sure how that will go with lining them up or just using the slightly bigger one. Any recommendations or should I just try to source a true 3mm bit. Thanks

I would first measure the magnets with a digital caliper. But 0.18mm more would work if you glue them in and would be very hard to see.

Thanks Dejay. That is the route I am leaning towards. I figure I can always cut the screw down and glue it over the magnet if it doesn't look good. I used my cheap caliper and the magnet came out a hair above 3mm. I will see if I have any time this week to give it a go.

I stopped putting magnets in my builds.

Yes, it's 10 times easier to swap a battery, yes it makes inspection a breeze.

However, there are moments when you're doing stuff while holding the mod in the same hand which puts more pressure on the back cover and makes the cover slide and snap back in place. I don't like that.

finally got around to making something out of my chana mini box from fasttech. decided on a brushed finish, fd 510 with 22mm adapter, built in 18650, and a 1amp usb charger. didnt really love the rounded screen port, so i made it rectangular.

Looks awesome!!! :toast:

Did you use the same buttons or upgrade to C&K? I left the stock buttons for the up and down and upgraded the fire button with a C&K and found it was much better so the 2nd time upgrading to the large screen, I swapped out the up and down buttons too.

What 1a charger did you use? Did the LED line up with the hole? Does it change to green when it's fully charged?

i upgraded all switches to c&k, figured while i was in there i should do a complete rehaul. i used a small white 1amp charger, someone had a few left from a coop (theyre probably more like 700 or 800 miliamp). the light does change from red to green when fully charged and can totally be seen from the hole in the box, not perfectly aligned, but easily seen for sure. ill find a picture of one and post it.

View attachment 425041Hey guys im swapping a evolv dna40 into this clone
clone. Ordered chip and FDV 510. Wondering if existing USB charger and chip holder will work.

It appears yours has the long chip holder in it. I had to trim the end of mine down (the end by the 510) so the FDV 510 wouldn't interfere. I just took my Dremel to it and trimmed it down.

I am using the Chinese charger in my mini and it works fine. Mine had 3 pads + - and S. Only used the + and -.

I did one of these over the summer. I ordered another enclosure off of ebay for the DNA 40 I got. Since I have the big screen version I had to do some cutting to make the hole bigger, I got it big enough to use a bezel from Shapeways.

Should be able to finish it tonight/over the weekend.

Thank you guys for sharing and providing the inspiration to make a fella like me get the nards to do it himself!
