Building an E pipe

Okay I am working on an epipe. I'm trying to finish the button part. I am using a brass piece that has the standard spring and magnet in the center. I have gotten it made but I am just not to happy with the button action. The whole setup just seems half ... for a lack of better words. Just hard to get the magnet straight on the spring and the spring straight then once you do it looks good until you push the button. Is there a better way of going about this. I will try and post pics soon I just wasn't planning on posting anything but my brain hurts trying to come up with a smoother button style. Smoother as in the pressing action and sturdiness of the hole setup.

It's hard to picture, but I don't quite get the spring and magnet part. It seems that one offsets the other. You might want to consider a ring magnet as then it can be captive and not getting out of alignment.
