Wood Built me a wood/SS DNA30 box

Primarily padauk, with bubinga, ironwood and pine accents. The battery door also has some african mahogany (not pictured). The 510 is from FatDaddyVapes, which I HIGHLY recommend. Awesome piece, and a superb price. I bought extras, and will be buying more to keep on hand. I used light gauge stainless that I had laying around, but obviously didn't protect it well enough during construction, as it's pretty scratched up. I guess I won't feel as bad when I drop it for the first time!

Either way, she vapes great!

Quite nice, the last pic looks like a piece of high end stereo equipment, and that doesn't even take into account the fine woodwork. Any pics of the insides or the woodwork in progress?

No in-progress pictures, when I get into a project I rarely remember those! I'll get some pictures of the back side up soon. The battery door doesn't match at all, but its temporary. I just happened to have a piece of ironwood/african maple laying around from a cribbage board I'm building that fit perfectly.

Wharf, there are no real joints between the pieces, they were just too small (about 1/8" square). The small stringers were sanded flat to 320 grit, and glued to a piece of 3/16" balsa, and the whole thing sanded against the face to get it all flush. The balsa was notched to give some more bite onto the 1/8" padauk. After they were glued, I backed it with epoxy for more strength. Sooner or later maybe it will fall apart, I guess we'll see It was all finished with paraffin wax (couldn't source any beeswax locally). I've really been digging the wax finish lately. Super easy, fast, and easy to reapply every month or so. It also gives some depth to the grain without drastically over exaggerating the natural color like stains/varnish combos seem to do. It's much more "true" to the wood color/grain for lack of a better word.

I've got about 6 batteries through her over the last 2 days, no complaints yet!

Wow, all glued face to face and no joints. ..love it. Nice work. On smaller boxes it is tough. The metal band provides support too.

Here is a 6 piece box with rabbets I am glueing up now. Taking forever to set with the cold days. This is a Texas maple.

Looks good! I've also got a piece of leopard wood and purpleheart I'm going to be using next. One will be a bottom feeder, and the other I'm not sure about...

Mitey, what did you use to finish your box? What type of oil?

Check a few posts North ;-) It's just wax. I prefer it over oil most of the time
