I have a KGO and was vaping Dark City Vapor juice 70pg/30vg. I filled empty cartomizers- Boge 2.0 LR. I used the condom method at first, then dripped and had no problems at all. Then when DCV wouldn't tell me what is in their juice, I read about Virgin Vapor's organic juices. I purchased the sample pack from their absolute line. It's 100% vg. I filled a cartomizer with it today and did it the exact same way I did it with DCV juice. I noticed the consistency was different, but it soaked up fine. I vaped for a few minutes and all was well. The throat hit was different, but I expected that with the 100% vg. What I didn't expect was getting a vape out of nowhere that burned my throat and tasted burnt....a horrible burning taste. I opened the cartomizer and it looked alright inside. I added a couple of more drops of juice after reading about a similar issue in this forum. That didn't help, and now all I smell coming from the cartmizer is that burning smell. Another vape and same taste. Is this happening because of the juice? Am I going to have this problem with all organic juice? Or is because of the 100% vg? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had that problem with high VG in a carto (60%). It takes a bit longer for it to soak thru and after a few draws in a row I didnt allow enough time for the liquid to seep back down. The result, was that I burned the filler of the carto. The burnt taste stuck for a while but eventually cleared up after I ran enough liquid thru it. By the 10th draw (without burning) the burnt taste and harshness was gone.

Since then I went back to 70/30.

Edit: Not only burning filler tastes bad, you'll feel it on the inhale. Man you'll feel it lol

You may just want to start over with another carto, fill it, let it soak for 15 min or so then top it off with a few more drops. All of this is why I turned to tanks/carto systems. With them, you can see how much juice you have and assuming you primed the carto properly to begin with, you're not likely to run into the burning problem again.

Probably what Disk described is what happened. 100% VG needs more time to soak in and a carto might appear to be filled when it really isn't. Disk was lucky that his burnt taste went away. That almost never happens. Usually the best thing to do is to trash the carto and start over.

I vaped for a year with cartos and 100%VG, so I know it can be done. You just have to be sure they're filled completely, and that's a bit trickier to do with high VG than with thinner juice. Also 2ohms is pretty warm, which makes it even more crucial that the juice gets well distributed.

BTW, for a 100% VG juice, VV's is fairly thin. They use alcohol in at least some of their juices and that thins it out a bit. It also makes it almost mandatory to let VVs juice steep for the best flavor.

Its because the vg takes twice as long to soak in. What happened was, the juice soaked only 3/4 of the way down the cartomizer, and if there is any fill that is not soaked, it will burn up. Once that happens, you will get a burnt taste forever with that carto. To prevent this, fill up the carto with 30-40 drops or until you see juice start to come out of the bottom. Once that happens fill a condom half way up with juice and plug it back on the bottom of the carto. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, and you should be good to go.

I use 100% vg most of the time with tanks on what are usually single coil cartos. I have no issue with burning taste. Only occasionally I find I get a funny kind of taste, not burning, and need to draw in some juice by pulling a bunch of quick puffs without heating the coil. Instead sometimes I'll top off the carto if I have a bottle on hand, or if not I even sometimes pull the carto down into the tank with the top of the carto right at the liquid line of the ejuice then I tip the tank and carto slightly to dump a bit of juice into the carto - always careful not to flood the hole in the center just to wet the filler.
