The reason is, getting rid of redundant subs that cause confusion for members...many posts were not getting replies.

Confusion for members???

The area you guys are in is next to be Archived...

Well, it's about time, Classy.

We've come full circle here. Literally. A cartomizer with a nonflammable filler has been created.

BVC head breakdown:

OK, so it's not called a cartomizer; technically it's a bottom vertical coil for Aspire nautilus, but it is a non-burning cartomizer nevertheless, folks. :D

No silica wicks--just a vertical coil wrapped in some kind of ceramic mesh or something similar. Just what we have been asking for here for years.

Some report that the mesh crumbles when manipulated... Rip starts to take the coil apart at 12:50 into the video below. Interesting. And definitely a step in the right direction. I'm just not sure about that mesh... Gritty? :vapor:

pffft...couldn't you tell all along with all this stuff that's all it is ?
Just spent the past few years re-inventing a carto in different styles :)

Ceramic mesh ?

I use a ceramic fiber in my kiln when fusing glass...it comes in sheets and can be cut to what ever piece/size/shape.
It starts out kind of like pressed cotton...after a few firings it kind of puffs/softens/fluffs/shreds.

Not sure I would want to use it for vaping...maybe after a high fire load...dunno

Should if fail again, I have a bunch of cartomizers that I will never use, so just holler and I'll take care of Peggy! :D Not that I'm suggesting that your masterpieces might fail--ever. Far from that. :p

If you have some old 2.5 ohm cartomizers I may take you up on the deal, just to rob them of the coils.

morning, classy! ;) we'll roll with the punches! :D and sooner or later, we'll be obsolete!

but it's a good thing bear doesn't look at this thread or he'd tell you there's no such thing as issues - it's problems, plain and simple!
battery problems, atty problems and cartomizer problems!

I'm beginning to get too old to build my own cartomizers. Is this an issue or a problem? Or am I just obsolete?

Give me a minute to check my stock. Does it have to be 2.5Ω on the nose? I may have several in the 2.2-3Ω range. Both vertical and horizontal--does it matter which?

No, you're not obsolete--you're just stubborn as a mule. :D

Unlike a normal carto these have a screen over the top part. I guess that is to keep some of those crumbles from coming thru? Screen isn't very fine, and those "particles" coming off on his fingers are smaller than the screen holes, so not sure I like this idea.

Even as the video continues, I could see that wicking material stuff that broke off all over his fingers.

I'll stick with my regular cartos. :)

Thanks Racehorse for your insight. I agree--I don't like that mesh. I don't want any particulate floating in my joose or accumulating on the coil. I don't want to inhale it, and I don't want to choke on it either.

I much prefer the filler in the older Aspire (and the newer Kanger) dual coil heads.

if it's anything at all like the fiber blanket used in kilns (that Classy mentioned) even wet i don't want it anywhere near my lungs, either before or after firing. un-unh.

I hadn't tried the Nautilus, and now i'm fairly sure i won't be.

(that vid reminds me that, even with clear liquids, i probably need to change my heads a bit more frequently)

Good Morning in here :)
I don't know if you have noticed, but I have been cleaning out the Technical Issues Forum and Tips and Tricks Forum...
Atomizer Issues, Battery Issues, Cartridge Mods...have been moved to Archives after cleaning and organizing them.
I have moved threads like crazy up to Assorted PV Topics.
The reason is, getting rid of redundant subs that cause confusion for members...many posts were not getting replies.

The area you guys are in is next to be Archived...YOU ARE NOT being Archived.
Some time in the next few days I am going to move you up to Assorted PV Topics - Cartomizers :
Cartomizers
I don't think it will affect your links to get here...but wanted to let you know in case it does.
:)

Yeah! Please we're not 'obsolete'... we're a living bunch of vapers who call ourselves 'The Burning Cartos Gang'...
We'll always live on...

You will NEVER be obsolete, br! Anyone who can redesign and build cartos like you is a true classic and you know classics never go out of style! So just keep on stylin' man...
