Ok bad idea on the 5v. Heats up fast and way too hot.

Unless you're only taking 2-3 second draws, I think anything 3 ohms or less on a 5 volt is really pushing it. The mega eGo carts I've measured have come in anywhere from 2.3 to 2.6 ohms. The mega eGo attys are at 2.1 ohms. I've cut off the skirts (excess from the batt connection) on 2 cartos and an atty and they work well on a 3.7 v bartleby, protege and wetbox. A bit better vapor with the 3.7v mods, than on the TorneGo.

Imo, the best vapor and flavor is still the LR atty and cartos on the eGo. On the 3.7v, the LRs wipe out flavor. And on the eGo, if you want to trade off some vapor for 5 hours of vaping, use the mega eGo stuff ;-)

Dr. Cameron: I'll check into it.
Dr. Foreman: I'll make the call.
Dr. Chase: I'll keep the kid alive. For a while at least.
House: I'll have lunch.

Kent, very interesting. But I need help understanding one thing. If anything 3Ω or less is pushing it on 5v, wouldn't the same be true about 1.5-1.7Ω cartos on a 3.1-3.4v device? We had premium low-resistance cartomizers (2.1Ω or so) burn like crazy on 3.7v kr8 batteries. They have been since discountinued and replaced with high-resistance cartos (3.1-3.4Ω range).

I like the combination of 2.9-3.3Ω on anything 3.7-4.5v. I'm also looking at all the new variable voltage mods because I have no interest whatsoever in vaping on anything higher than 4.5v. But I haven't explored the lower voltage and lower resistance cartos combinations yet. I just don't want to go back to toasting, burning, charring--smoking all over again.

Let's see:
5/3 x 5 = 8.33W

'best case on eGo heat'
3.1/1.7 x 3.1 = 5.65W
'worst case'
3.4/1.5 x 3.4 = 7.70W

That may look 'close' but it experience it isn't. I can burn out attys at 8.3W. In fact I can burn out 2 in an hour ;-) Not saying it isn't possible on the eGo at the noted rates but I've cut the cartoz open and they're looking good. Again, not so even on the 3.7v with the LR cartos, but I can vape 2.1 510 attys on the Bartleby, Protege and Wetbox and now 2.1 and 2.3 ohm cartoz on them all day without burning.

The mega eGo cartoz are a bit different - maybe their mass is a factor or perhaps the fact that there is no 'center hole' but they're acting much like the mega attys - the filler, as Scott shows, is the same stuff too with no folding or wrappings. I've burnt out premium KR8 cartoz at 3.7v too. I've only had (before the mega egos) the 1.6-1.7 LR cartoz and the 3.4ohm non ego 'mega' cartoz in 510. The LR's burn out at 3.7 but not at 3.4 volts. The 3.4ohm ones are workable but weak at 3.7v and perfect at 5v. ....in my experience and with the autopsies I've done. yymv

I ordered and paid for my Edition II's several weeks ago. The order is still in the processing stage so I am not sure how long the whole process will take.

They have not even shipped it yet :(

Oh well.... I knew I would have to be patient with a China order.... I am in no rush.

Okies so they have now shipped and I have tracking num. :toast:

Depending how long it takes EMS to delvier to the big smoke I should be vaping on the Edition 2 in no time :D

Oh, Kent, how neat and elegant and clear! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I'm going to bookmark this post and refer to it in the future frequently.:D

But I agree with you that the mileage varies. I burned some high resistance cartos on medium voltage batteries because they were overstuffed, thus impeding the airflow and wicking speed. And vice versa. There are so many variables: the quality of the batting material, the proximity of the wicking fibers to the heating coil, the airflow through the carto, the wicking ability of the fibers, the composition of the e-liquids used, the personal vaping style, etc.

Your findings are truly helpful and, using your experience as a guide, I think I'm going to explore the low voltage-low resistance frontier. Wish me luck! Do you have a particular brand of LR 510 cartomizers that you like? Or are they all pretty much the same (for the eGo batteries)?

Well, Good luck :)

The only LR cartoz I have are from Provapes. Again - too much for my 3.7v mods but seem near perfect for the eGo - except you have to ream out the cone a bit to maintain the airflow, so get an extra cone if you don't have one. I mic'ed the difference between the atty and the cone opening and kept that same difference between the carto body. If I recall it's about 1mm total but measure it twice ;-) Scott may have number...

And LR isn't recommended on any batts less than 440mAh...

I have LR attys from many places. I prefer the Joyes. The metal mesh really comes into play for LR. The SLB washer types are only good for careful dripping imo.

Mine are in EMS today, I can't wait either. I think I got my order in before the agreement. I also got myself a bunch of disposable 510 kits that come with two each. so it is going to be a while before I burn through all of these.

Are you telling me that the LR 510 cartomizers do not fit the eGo battery? That's really bad news. I was just about to order a 650 mAh eGo from Good Prophets... and the giant eGo cartos (Rob has them on sale). I thought I could just screw any 510 cartomizer right onto the eGo and vape on. I don't want to deal with atties. I have enough problems with cartos. :D

So the only low-er voltage (2.5 Ω) cartomizer for Joye eGo is the giant one? I understand that it replaces the cone, correct? Nothing to modify.

Modified cone? That rings a bell. I remember Scottbee mentioning his modified cone.;) Scott?

mega cartos from wordupecig, i just filled the first one i got and what a pain in the ...... the center hole that needs to be pierced wouldnt pierce with my 18g blunt syringe so i had to use a needle and wiggle it back and forth to open the hole to get the syringe in. put 1.5ml in no problem, let it sit for a few minutes, tried to put another 1ml in and it just ran out the battery end. which brings me to pain in the ... problem 2. with the skirt its hard to get anything in there to wipe all the excess juice out. i also cant look down into the cartomizer and visually check if it needs to be topped off like i can with a regular cartomizer. i think a large capacity cartomizer was a great idea, i'll stick to the regular ones until someone develops a refill method that isnt such a pain. i do LOVE the flat tip tho, cant get that on a regular carto
