Burning Question- Never Seen This Addressed- RE: Attaching Leads

When building a dual coil on a device with Pos and Neg posts to which the leads of the coils are attached, is it okay when attaching both leads to one post, to have them touching or overlapping each other?

Is there a reason I haven't seen anyone wrap the lead of a coil around a post more than a partial turn or one turn max? It would be so much easier to attach if I could wrap the wire around the screw a few times before I screw it down to tighten but I never have because I haven't seen anyone do it that way- but why not?

Thanks in advance for the info! :)

OK as long as the two posts leads do not touch that is OK. As long as the positive posts wires do not touch any other part of the ATTY that is OK. Mostly we trim off the leads as it will hang on the wick and can get bent and touch something during wicking maybe. I only wrap my wire about 1.5 turns on atty's that don't have holes. If you wrap them to many times around a post you may not be able to get the screw in the hole or only have a small amount of the screw in the hole which would increase the resistance of the build. The more screw in the hole the better also because you could mess up the threads with just the tip of the screw in the hole.

Also, when I'm changing my coil, I'd rather not get my hands covered in juice so that I can get it off. If I've got the wire wound around the screw, then I have to go in there and unwind it.

If the wire is just a half or quarter turn around the screw, when I loosen the screws, the coil practically falls off. I don't have to work it loose or get my fingers all juicy at that stage in the re-coiling process.

Also, I haven't found anything wrong with only having the wire pinned instead of wrapped around the post, so I just do it that way.

That said, on the old GG Penelope V1 / GG Odysseus / GG Ithaka, it was fairly important to have the coil wrapped at least a bit around the contact points. I had an Ithaka clone called iSmoka Magoo, and it was difficult to get the second coil in if you didn't have them at least one turn around the 'post'. But then, they weren't posts like you're talking about. They were just different points on the base of the device that were designed to have the wire on.

Hope this helps.
