Hello everyone! I cant figure out why when i vape my alien220 that it tastes burnt but when other do, it doesnt. A coil will only seem good for one day then it starts tasting burnt. I have turned temp all the way down to 200 i vape at min. wattage. Whats up? I need help or Im going back to cigs.
It sounds as though you're trying to use wattage mode coils in TC. The coils that come with the kit are not suited for TC vaping. Switch back to power mode, and follow the wattage guidelines on the coils, start low and work up until you're happy. Do be sure to completely prime the coils with eliquid before starting.

I think that Shawn is correct, you should be vaping those coils in temperature mode, but wattage mode. You should start low (with a new coil) and just prime (take long slow inhales, as you slowly increase the power and make sure it's fully saturated. There should be a recommended wattage printed on your coil, and although it's just a "recommendation" it may give you some idea as to where you will land on a happy vape. However, some people will vape below it (I often do, but I'm a wattage weenie) but vaping above it will usually shorten coil life.

If you do want to vape in TC down the road, it's a good idea and can help coil life, temperature of vape, and possibly increase safety. But, most users start in wattage mode, learn what they need to about temperature control, then start using it. I will say, smok is not known for supreme accuracy in TC, and they don't (to my knowledge) offer a TC coil . But, for now, figuring out the correct wattage for your coil and getting used to vaping.... Wattage mode is usually far easier to get a handle on, and if you want to do TC down the line, you absolutely can. Wattage mode is still safer than smoking, so as you adjust to vaping, I would focus more on getting a vape you like, vaping stably and eliminating cigarettes, and etc.

Welcome and I hope you find vaping success.!

I once got a hold of some bad juice.
A coil would last 5 hours if i babied it.
It wasnt until i burned 2 coils in 2 seperate pipes that i figured it out.
Is ur juice a dark shade, or extra sweet? Those juices can burn a coil.

I agree with Shawn and Anna, it appears that you are confused about what power mode your Alien mod is in. A setting of "200" sounds like you are in Temp Control mode, but you really need to be in "wattage mode" if you're not using the correct coils for TC. Using the wrong coils in the wrong mode will give a burnt taste to your flavor.

I suggest you watch a demo of the Alien mod on You Tube and familiarize yourself with your modes and settings. Also watch a demo of whatever tank you are using to make sure you are priming your coils correctly and using the correct power setting for the wattage range of the coils used in the tank.

Welcome and glad you joined.
The "coil burn taste" is common, if the above does not seem to help, could read:

OMG, I never thought this day would come, but I'm about to correct Anna. I'm currently vaping a Smok Prince on my T-Priv in TC mode. Smok actually makes plenty of SS coils that I have used in TC mode. Having said that, I agree with everything else she said. I am also a Watt Weenie and almost always vape below the recommended power range.

For someone just starting out Power mode is the best way to go. It's just easier while you're still trying to learn about mods, tanks, coils, juice, batteries and the curse of shinyitis. The TC option will still be there when you're ready for it.

One of the advantages of TC is that I can put it into Centigrade mode, which I don't really understand, and I can find my sweet spot without having any concern about being a Watt Weenie.

Even if you aren't in Temp Control mode, starting off a coil at 200w is going to kill it nearly instantly.
I agree. Also if your vaping a much thicker juice or much sweeter juice, it will mung the coil much faster. Overall these 200 plus watt devices get you on coils, it's a rabbit hole as the more power you want, the more juice and coils are used and that's where they make their money. But you can or should get more then one day by not using as much power, priming the coil properly, and slowly working upwards from a much lower power .
