Burnt flavor since I've moved down in Nic juice

I have a couple of different Stardusts (LR) that have worked great when I was vaping 18mg nic juice and even 12mg nic juice. However, now that I've moved down to 8mg juice, I'm getting a rather nasty burnt flavor to my juice. The flavors are both from DFW vapor, brawndo and sour cherry. In my carto tank, I have no issues with this. This is happening with my back up standard ego style battery, as well as on my twist (with the voltage down or up, doesn't matter). Any ideas on what is causing this?

I have noticed that it will go away for a few puffs if I happen to blow into the stardust lightly. It's annoying as my carto tank still works great on my twist, but my other battery cannot duplicate what my twist can do with that.

Also, just to add on. I used the same stardusts that I have been using with the 18 and 12 mg nic juice. (both new this week) and immediately this happened. Not sure if it's the lighter flavor or what, but it's odd that it's happening now when the same flavors are doing this.
