Hey guys, new to vaping and have been running into a little issue. I bought a Tsunami G-Class kit which is just a standard 650 battery and a 2.4 ml tank cartomizer. Everything has worked fine for the most part but sometimes the smoke becomes unusually harsh and sometimes even very very burnt tasting and extra harsh. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong when that happens or if it has something to do with my equipment, also it seems to be harsher when the tank is less than half full or so. Any advice would be great, thanks

'Grats on joining & your first post. Almost sounds as if your coil has burned through your wicks causing you to "hot wick" (juice heating directly on your coil) & just simply needs replacing. Clearomizer coils typically last 1-3 weeks, depending on use. Looking at their site, they offer replacement tanks, however contact them to see if they offer just the replacement coils or coil heads.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum! Don't vape like you smoke. Think of grandpop sitting in his chair on a sunny sunday afternoon smoking his pipe. It may be that you're vaping faster than the wick can absorb the liquid. I would definitely recommend getting some more clearos - preferably ones where the wick and coil (heads) can be replaced without tossing the entire tank - because generally when the wick is scorched, it stays burned tasting (because it is burned).

Thanks for the advice guys. That definitely makes sense that the wicks might be burning a little bit. I've only been using this cartomizer for about 4 days now and used around 3ml of juice in that time. I assume this would be a short lifespan for any of the parts and I don't think I'm smoking it too much.
Are there other types of cartomizers that might be higher quality and avoid this problem or is this issue pretty normal?

I'm not familiar with the cartomizer and I'm sure there'll be plenty of responses and suggestions. I still use the Kanger T2's. You can buy replacement heads and it's the easiest "plug n play" clearo there is. (What can I say, don't fix it if it int broke. :D) You may need a 510/eGo connector depending on what you ultimately choose so it fits correctly on the battery. Make sure you're tilting the PV so the wicks get and stay soaked, and don't vape it in the same manner that we all did when we used to sneak a smoe behind the bike shed at school!

Hi Sober and welcome. First of all, please tell us what kind of topper are you using. I don't quite understand--do you have a clear tank--no filler--or a cartomizer in a tank?

Is this your kit?

Yes, that is my exact kit right there

Ok, I googled it, but not much information out there. It seems to have a proprietary thread, even though it looks like an eGo class battery.

The clearomizer that comes with it looks like a top coil--is it? If so, they all have wicking problems, because your juice has to travel up to reach the coil; when the juice doesn't reach the heating coil fast enough, you get a dry hit--it's not a happy experience. Try tilting the tank once in a while to make sure that the coil is well saturated.

Wicks don't burn--they are made of silica. What burns (and smokes) is the gunk buildup on the coil. Clean your coils often--and replace them when necessary. They are disposable. Are the coils in your kit replaceable? Or do you have a buy a whole new clearomizer when the coil gets bad?

Congrats on switching from cigs. I am new here too. My first kit was a Tsunami and i still use the battery and charger - it's held up well. the dreaded burnt taste. Best way to avoid this is on those style of tanks is to take shorter puffs. Those tanks usually don't last long anyway. I started using the aspire tank because you can switch out the coils for $2. I've also found the lighter ejuices tend to vape better, causing less of these types of issues.

I had this same problem when I started using the i Clear16. I was vaping the juice faster than the wicks could carry it to the coil. This resulted in a burnt/dry hit every so often. You can try and help the juice up the wick by tilting the tank, but you might want to change the frequency in which you vape or try bottom coil tanks. I recently purchased a Russian 91% which you build your own coils and make your own wick. With this I can chain vape as much as I want and will not get a dry hit until I run out of juice. I use to chain smoke so wasn't big on waiting for the wicks in top coil clearo's to get juice to the coils.

Thanks for the help guys. I think the issue was that I was just smoking too quickly considering its a top coil and I'm using pretty thick e-juice. I'm more conscious of letting the wicks get soaked before vaping

Glad to hear that. Also, if your ejuice is very thick, you can safely dilute it with a drop or two of distilled water (per ml).
