Burnt taste? Bad battery?

Alright, well I'm new to the forums. After trying to do research on my own, I've come up short and decided to give it a shot and ask you guys, I'm hoping one of you has an answer.

I started vaping about 2 months ago or so. I bought a starter kit from smokeless image to just try e-cigarettes, and surprisingly I liked it more than actual cigarettes (Though I will smoke one every once in awhile if I'm hanging around friends). The first battery I bought was a manual, then later that month I bought an automatic.

Well here comes the issue. At first I bought pre-filled carts, which I'd imagine most people do but then quickly moved unto buying e-liquid and blanks. It took me a few wasted carts and e-liquid but I'm pretty sure I am filling them right now. Well lately, I've been experiencing a burnt taste BUT it's only on one battery, the manual one. Then I'll take the cart off and switch to the automatic and it tastes fine, no burnt taste at all. Well after inspecting the manual battery, there was blackish looking gunk between the threads. I cleaned it all out with a toothpick, vaped and it tasted alright but still had a slight burnt taste. Then a few weeks went by and the taste got worse to the point when I can't even vape on that battery. I'm wondering if it is the battery or am I refilling the carts wrong.

Any help at all would be much appreciated because I don't want to go buy a new battery for nothing. Thanks in advance and sorry for the long message.

Carts = disposable. I use a cartomizer + tank system. My cartomizers usually last....about a week or so...

Also, what resistance is your carto? What kind of battery do you have? If switching to the automatic gives you a better result it maybe that the manual battery is giving too much power to your carto that in turn gives you that burnt taste.

Try breaking in the new carts with the automatic battery first for a few puffs or so (maybe like 10...) and move to the manual. I usually break in my cartomizers with the lowest voltage (3.2v) for a few puffs then slowly get up to the voltage I want.

What kind of manual do you have?

Are you sure the carto is fully primed/saturated?

The manual is the same battery as the auto, I believe they're both 3.6V. & yes, I think. I drip into the cart until it looks like a slushie, then I lit it sit for 30minutes to an hour.

I think it is the battery because it was the first one I started with and the only one to suffer from my learning curve. One time I over-filled a cart but still slapped it unto it. Even though the website says they are seal batteries, I think it is burning residue that's around the threading of the battery (If that's possible). Because the first time I noticed the gunk, it was rock solid and pitch black around the threading, I did my best to clean it out but there's still gunk around the threading that I can't get out.

I honestly don't think it is the carts but I still a noobie at e-cigarettes.

If you think its the battery then the best thing to do is order another.Theres a possibility that battery is overcharging and the gunk you cleaned up is from that.

One thing for sure, you dont want to be vaping on that and have it blow up in your face.

If you have a way to check the voltage Id do that before anything else and if it reads significantly over 3.7 volts then toss it out.
