Burnt Taste Before Liquid Runs Out

I've noticed that sometimes I get a burnt taste, even when there is plenty of liquid in the cartridge. This happens both when I fill the blank cartridge with the original filling, and using the blue foam mod.

What could be causing this? I am using a Joye eGo with the original atomizers. Maybe I am vaping to fast? I thought that the burnt taste was a sign of the liquid running out.

Drip 2-3 drops directly in the atty (on the bridge) it solves the problem for 20-30 minutes..

The burnt taste is a sign that there is not enough liquid at the atomizer coil.

That might mean the liquid has run out, or that the filler is not wicking fast enough.
The standard polyfill doesn't wick nearly as well as other options.

The blue foam is a good option, but you have to get it right.

First it depends on the viscosity of the liquid you are using.
And then it depends on the amount of blue foam you are using.

Too much blue foam and it won't wick as well.
Not enough blue foam and it may leak or even flood the atomizer easily.

And the more frequently you drag on it, the more flow you'll need.

I do tend to drag on my eGo rather frequently...

I use the pre-cut blue foam squares from strictlyejuice.com... Maybe I should trim it down.

On a related issue, if I use a LR atomizer, will that make the problem worse?

Definitely. It burns through juice faster, which is why you get more vapor.

I periodically get this also, sometimes it is not only enough liquid wicking onto the coil (which it could very well be), but if the atty has been used for awhile and not cleaned, remnants of old juice can carbonize onto and around the coil and the silica wick.

Although the wick doesn't burn, the char stuck on the outside of it can give you that nasty taste too. Doing the atty cleaning method described in this link has helped me avoid this and prolong the life of my attys http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/69834-my-atty-resurrection-method.html This can be done in about 5 minutes or so, but try it with an old atomizer first, as the longer dry burn times can easily pop an atty until you get it down.

Try this it works on atty's to just be a little gentler when plunging. I use it on cartos and atty's.

I have been vaping American Blend from Nicotine Nirvana (great juice, by the way!), which has 40% VG. The viscosity of the liquid is a bit thick.

I took one of the blue foam squares I got from StrictlyEJuice.com and cut off one-third of it, and then used the remaining rectangle per the instructions for the blue foam mod (that is, fill the cart with liquid to about a quarter inch from the top, then use tweezers to squeeze the foam in the top).

Now, my eGo vapes the entire cartridge until dry, without any burnt taste untill the liquid is used up... which takes a long time.

So, now I am cutting off one-third of all my blue squares to have a good supply!

I cut them about in half, so about 1/4" wide & 1/2" deep, which is working for PG.
