Hi all, new here and to vaping. I had a Joyetech AIO before, but I just got a Priv V8 Mod in the mail today. I primed the coil I thought what was the right way. It’s a baby beast .25 coil that came preinstalled in the tank. I took the coil out and I swirled my juice around the cotton in the top, and put juice in each of the side holes, put the coil back on and I filled the tank up and let it sit for about 3 hours while the battery charged. So I put the tank on the mod and go to fire it up and the first hit I get is a burnt taste. What did I do wrong?

Did you slowly increase the wattage, priming puffs as you went. Even if a wick and coil is "sitting" in e-liquid a long time, that may not be enough. Pulling juice into the coil as you slowly increase wattage can be quite helpful.

Some folks use a variety of methods with some of the smok coils to get them to prime and wick better, including poking holes in the cotton with a small needle. I don't know what wattage you started at but if it was high and little airflow, that can be enough to burn your coil.

Some folks preboil their coils for about 15 minutes and then use them, they feel it loosens up the coil and can avoid burnt hits. These are all remedies you can try but nothing will substitute for good priming, especially at higher wattages. Best of luck , there is always the possibility that you got a bad coil as well.

Welcome and glad you joined.
Tanks can be tricky at .25 ohms. There could be many reasons.

Thanks guys. I put the other coil in that came with it, the .15, and it’s working fine so far. I think it was user error on my part as I had the airflow completely closed when I fired it up and I forgot to take the primer puffs. You can’t control the wattage on this mod. From what I researched, full power is 60 watts and as the battery loses its charge, the wattage goes down until you charge it again.
