I recently posted about my cartos just having these burnt tastes after only 3 draws they never fully had the flavor of my juice like they did previously but I fixed that with some suggestions here (Thank you everyone!).

But now I have a new problem (previous problem was not saturating enough). .. I have full flavor now without the awkward taste or hard draw BUT it gets a burnt taste after several draws even though my carto is obviously saturated! I don't want to keep dripping and flood it. Not to mention wasting juice. I use a k100 mod and I use 510 boge cartos LR 2.0 ohms. Only been using the carto for 2 days with minimal usage. My cartos usually last me 2 weeks to a month.

i find a lot of inconsistency when dealing with cartos IDK why. some are just garbage right out of the box others hold up for a very long time. if the coil glows at all when you hit the button its a bad carto and you should stop using it make sure its very well saturated i prefer to have it flood a bit at first and have to blow it out. i like BOGE cartos they seem to be the best.

There are two main resons cartomizers burn--they are not properly saturated to begin with or the wattage is too high and the carto can't supply enough juice to the hot coil to cool it off.

Do you have a multimeter? Can you check the actual resistance of your cartos? Sometimes the resistance is lower than stated by the manufacturer. If your carto is really 1.7 or 1.8Ω and your voltage is 4.2v (fresh of the charger), you can hit close to 10 watts of power--way too much for a cartomizer to handle. This is of course worst case scenario, but one hit at 10 watts will burn the cotton diaper and the polyfill and you'll have to throw the carto away.

Having said that, a good cartomizer can really only handle ~8-10 ml of eliquid, depending on the eliquid, of course--the dark, sweet, sticky juices will kill the coil much faster that the light ones. Cartomizers are disposable.

If you like cartomizers, I suggest you invest in a carto-tank; they make using cartos much easier and they actually prolong their life.

Good luck.

The carto was for sure saturated. I took 5 minutes to slowly prime it with the condom method then let it sit for 30 minutes. I didn't say it was burning just that it tastes burnt after maybe 10 or less his but the carto is still saturated. Because I thought the only time it tastes off is when it needs to be topped off. Unfortunately I don't have a multimeter :/ I've already ordered my tank so it should be coming soon.

Well, if it tastes burnt, it usually is.

The carto can be saturated and still burn if the heating coil doesn't get enough cool juice fast enough--this can happen in an instant.

I'm glad you ordered a tank. In the future, I recommend you get an Ohm meter for atomizers. That will save you a lot of aggravation. They are easy to use and really indispensable--especially for those who use mechanical mods.

Be very, very careful when you use it on the fresh-of-the charger battery, when the voltage can be as high as 4.2v, albeit for a short time. Once your battery begins to discharge, you'll be at 3.7 volts, which is much safer for your cartomizers.

Take slow draws, do not over vape, do not chainvape. Better yet, have at least two or three cartos ready and switch them up from time to time.

Top off early and top off often! :)

The advice Katya gave you her posts here cover it all and what she said is true if it taste burnt it is. Check this out; after the punch review is an all inclusive primer on cartos and their problems and burning issues

I might suggest checking your draw technique while vaping. A longer, slow, gentle draw works best. This allows juice time to travel through the polyfill to reach the heating coil. Imagine sucking on a straw in a thick milkshake.

Once a carto gets a burnt taste, it's ruined. You'll never be able to fix it.

I know Boge's are probably the most used cartos, but I never had any luck with them myself. Their polyfill is more densely packed than other brands, and makes filling them a pain. I fill my cartos from the top, so that doesn't help matters. If you continue to have issues with Boges, don't give up on cartomizers. Try some Smoktech or Ikenvape cartomizers. Ikenvape punched 510 Fusion or Platinum, standard resistance are what I use in my cartotanks.

Also, just because you are using a mechanical mod doesn't mean you have to use LR (low resistance cartomizers). Those can be too warm for some vapors and give the impression the taste is burnt. I prefer a cooler vape so I never use LR.

I get my Boge XL LR cartos here: vapelite.info Haven't had a bad one yet. Just ordered the 2.3mm single punched, no flange to try out my AGR+s but have used about 30 of the F16 cartos and love them. The draw is where I like them. I use them in Smoktech pyrex DCT tanks, love those too. I run them around 8-9 watts. Long, slow draw and they are monsters! Great vapor and flavor. About a buck a piece. Last at least 30ml of juice. When I get a chance I want to try an Ikenvape, but for now, these are it for me. Baditude is a terrific resource about cartomizers, hear, hear. Good luck and have fun!

I just thought of something while checking some coils for their real ohm ratings. I threw a volt box on one of my vv/lava tube/Lambo/mvari's and just noticed while I'm setting it to say 3.7v the output is closer to the 3.9-3.94 range. Strange right, confirmed on other pv's that it's not my volt box but the pv itself.

Before you go burning up more coils do you have another PV you can try your setup on. It's possible your experiencing a similar situation and your PV is putting out more volts or even more watts than it should or regularly would.
