Burt tatste in 501 solved!!

I was also getting the burt taste with my 501 and couldn't figure it out for the life of me. Then I looked inside my Atty and under the bridge of the atty i noticed that there was some polyfill and looked kind of burnt. I took a screwdriver and started poking under the bridge and was able to pull out all of the polyfill. After that the burnt taste was gone....
I suspect that no amount of drenching of the atty with various agents would have solved this issue...You actually need to go in and clean under the bridge physically...
This also worries me a little bit as i suspect the burnt polyfill would be quite hazardous and if there is only a little bit of it burning, you might not even know from the taste and would continue to inhale...I think i'm going to look into non polyfill cart options now..

I think what you found were the wicking threads. These help wick the liquid from your filler to the atomizer. Did they look like string?? If that's what you removed, you may have ruined that atty for anything but dripping.

Hey there,

YouTube - phee303's Channel is a good video on removing that stuff.

Some people say you can only drip after you remove it, but I have removed it from mine and use poly carts just fine with it gone. Guess it differs for some.

From what I understand those fiberglass threads help to speed up the wicking of the coil in between drags.
Atty still usable, but you gotta leave it more time for liquid to reach the coil.
