I started with blu, but found it didn't do the trick for me so it sat for over a year. One day I decided to give it a shot and used the second atomizer that came with it - boy I loved it, figured out the original atomizer was a dud, lol. Quit smoking within the week. since then, I've tried other brands and am now loving my inferno.

Since stopping smoking I have developed alergies - to most everything, not sure why this happened and of course the doc has no clue. Recently have had chest pains and difficultly breathing when I even climb the stairs, seems I might have developed ashma late in life. How much this has to do with quiting smoking or vaping I haven't a clue, but I no that if I start smoking again it will be worse.

Just my experience.

Actually, developing allergies is fairly common after you quit smoking. All that tar was coating your lungs. Now the pollen can get to it.

It depends on your goals, habits, etc. I started looking for alternatives about 2 years ago and bought a mini ecig kit online (Liberty Ecigs). I think the kit cost me about $40 and I used it for a while but it got shelved because I got a horrible sore throat from it.

Because of our inferno of a summer here in Texas this year, and the fact that I'm spending a LOT more time indoors because of it, I decided to try to make the switch to vaping once again. (Someone told me that the juice was probably the cause of my bad sore throat and I should try a VG liquid instead.) I honestly didn't think my original kit would work anymore and when I tried one of the batts, it wouldn't charge. So, I ordered a cheap Nu-Cig kit. Came with one batt which lasted two weeks and then bit the dust, grrrr.

However, out of desperation I tried to charge the second batt from my original Liberty mini and it worked! The batt and atomizer are working like champs, even though they're 2 years old and have sat unused for about a year. I'm going to buy another kit when I get paid but it won't be anything fancy, just a better quality than the NuCig.

My goal is to stay off the analogs forever, not necessarily to pick up a new hobby or different habit. To do that, the experience for me has to be as close to analog smoking as possible to work -- previous failures have taught me that. LOL, I even flick the e-cig and put it in an ashtray when I'm not using it. And having the cardboard pack that came with the NuCig is psychological magic! I need all of these crazy little trappings, I guess. The important thing is that it IS working -- I haven't had a real cig in almost two weeks and I'm not even tempted to go out and buy a pack. That's huge.

Basically, I need a realistic, convenient, and easy cig-smoking experience with reliable equipment. That's it. I dunno, maybe that will change over time and I will get more into vaping itself rather than seeing it as a way to stay off real cigs. But right now, I just need a good cig substitute and I don't have the desire or patience to experiment with different types of equipment. LOL, I'm doing well but am still a bit edgy without my analogs so the simpler the better!

What brand do you consider to be the best? Also, is there some sort of site or chart that has info on which carts are interchangeable?

You'll be fine if you purchase from any of the registered vendors here at the forum. Most 'good' vendors will have that information as far as what type of battery on their website. The only onest that don't tell you are the overpriced kits because they want to to purchase everything from them.

Most popular starter brands seem to be the KR808 and the 510.

You can get a KR808 mini (two piece) from most vendors. Some of the popular brand names are Vapor 4 Life, Bloog, Volt. But most vendors carry KR808's. They come with prefilled cartomizers or empty cartomizers that you fill yourself. All KR808 parts are interchangeable with other KR808's. V4L has XL batteries

Large KR808's- GoGo, Echo, IGO (I think)

There are 510 minis. Similiar in size to the KR808. Can be two piece or three piece. A cartomizer and battery or a cartomizer, cartridge and battery. They also have tanks available for 510s. They also have larger sized mini batteries.

There is the EGO, Echo-E, KGO. Also a 510 and you can use the same cartomizer and atomizers on both but not the charger. These are bigger, sharpie sized and have big batteries.

You could use KR808 cartos on a 510, 510 cartos on a KR808 with an adaptor.

    in a cave, eh?
As to what's interchangeable. If you go with a KR808D-1 system, you can use 901 and 808-compatible accessories for it. If you get a 808/901->510 adapter, you can add 510 adapters.

If you go with a cigarette-sized kit, you might end up with a KR808D-1 system with 808-compatible threads.

If you go with a larger-sized kit, really consider getting a kit with 510-compatible threads. That would be your Riva 510, Ego, Echo-E (only the "E" version is 510), KGO, VGO, etc. If you ever step up to a mod one day, your best bet would be a 510-compatible system, too.

Those are your two choices: 808 (for a small-sized system) or 510 (for anything else). Don't consider getting any other type. If someone suggests an 801 atomizer, for example, you can get an adapter for it. :)

And I just replied to a newly-deleted post.
