I'm sure many of the vapers already know this, but for anyone who is thinking about moving from an ego to a mech mod might want to skip Ebay and go straight to vaping exclusive websites. I paid about $100 for the Sentinel M16 clone (aluminum version) from an Ebay seller who included one of those notorious Trustfire 4000Mah batteries, an IGO-L RDA and a cheap "blinking light" charger. Probably around 50 or 60 dollars worth of stuff, but because I didn't do my research first, I realized that hcigar makes a better version of the clone out of stainless steel with silver plated contacts (not a huge deal with the silver I've read, but still sweetens the deal), and it's available on 101vape.com for about $22 on sale right now......and that the aluminum one I got ripped on was only $15 on another vape site.....I'm guessing people get a bunch of cheap stuff and throw it into a kit on Ebay then jack the price for the "convenience factor" of it being all in one package (not really convenient when the battery is useless). I really like the simple design of telescopic mods, so I ordered the steel version and am very pleased. The aluminum version worked good, don't get me wrong, but the HCigar clone is much better - has a nice heavy feel and the spring on the switch is under less tension so it's easier to hit it.

Either way, I hope my story encourages those who might have been burned on mechmods to keep at it. I've read about people who have had this happen, then give up altogether instead of just doing a little research into the right vendors. Learn from your mistakes like I did, don't let them destroy your hobby.

It is always good to do research before buying from ebay, Craigslist, Amazon, classifieds or even local stores for that matter. Definitely some good advice.

Well, you did get a good mod.
I have an aluminum m16 and they are fantastic devices.
Remember aluminum is soft, so
Be gentle with the threads and don't over tighten anything.

You did pay waaaaay too much.
Not rubbing salt in yer wounds but
$11 shipped here:
$11.14 M16 Mechanical Mod - floating 510 center pin / aluminum+brass at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
Yeah, just don't plan on actually receiving it from FastTech. I have an order with them placed on July 11th, 2014. It passed Philippines customs on Aug 3rd, 2014. To this day that package has still not left the Philippines, nor has it been sent back to FastTech. I can't totally blame them, even if they did choose the shipping company. The reasons I will never send them another cent of my money are that their staff repeatedly tried to blame me for causing the shipping delays, they repeatedly lied about opening an investigation with the shipper (which they never actually did), and then they pleaded with me not to open a PayPal dispute and told me that they will have to recall the package if I did so. They were completely unprofessional, at times rude, extremely slow to respond, and clearly did not give 2 expletives that I had not received an order that I had paid $80 for.

FT fans will say that it was my fault for not splitting my $80 order into many separate orders. I'll let you judge for yourself whether that is a reasonable solution. To me it is not, for the simple fact that no first time customer would know to do that.

I've spent over 1000$ with fasttech.
Never had a single issue.
Order items listed as "in stock" or "ships next day" and you won't have problems.

Sometimes stuff happens, they ship a few million bucks worth of ecig goods daily, but if ya know how to order, you Won't have issues

My order shipped out no problem. The shipping company caused the problem which I don't hold against FastTech at all. The reason I will never shop at FastTech again and why I will continue to share my story when I see them brought up is the absolutely despicable attempt at customer service. I receive better service at the DMV...

Sucks you got ripped off. Most things that come bundled up like that are a rip off, if you take the time to look for them individually you can usually get it all for a lot cheaper.

I've bought most all of my clones off ebay and have spent a few $1000 on guitar stuff off there and have never really had any issues. You just have to do a little research before you buy to see if you're getting your money's worth or not and also check feedback on the seller you're looking to buy from.

I have both the aluminum and the stainless version, the stainless seems to hit better, but it is slightly smaller.

I am having the exact same problem now with FastTech. I opened a Paypal dispute and Paypal said since it was marked sent, I was out of luck. I placed my order on 11/4/14. This was my third order. The first two arrived fine.

Fastech always sends tracking. Certain items like loose batteries cannot be shipped international air, and must be sent by cargo ship. That's all international shipping, not just China.
I Order tons of stuff from China, and other countries.

Once shipped, fast tech has no more control
over the post than you or I.
Open a ticket with FT and don't be unprofessional. They have excellent customer service, and a fantastic return policy.

That's odd.
Try cleaning the aluminum one. And check the contacts.
Aluminum has much much MUCH better better conductivity than Stainless steel.

Good luck. In my experience the PayPal dispute process was pretty painless. Basically, FastTech just send them a crappy picture of the package that really didn't show anything and told Paypal that although their site quoted 7-14 day shipping I should wait 4 months before an investigation can be started which can take 6 months to be completed then they will refund my money if the package is lost at their leisure within another 6 months, then Paypal waited a day and told them they lose and sent me back my money.
