I'm sure many of the vapers already know this, but for anyone who is thinking about moving from an ego to a mech mod might want to skip Ebay and go straight to vaping exclusive websites. I paid about $100 for the Sentinel M16 clone (aluminum version) from an Ebay seller who included one of those notorious Trustfire 4000Mah batteries, an IGO-L RDA and a cheap "blinking light" charger. Probably around 50 or 60 dollars worth of stuff, but because I didn't do my research first, I realized that hcigar makes a better version of the clone out of stainless steel with silver plated contacts (not a huge deal with the silver I've read, but still sweetens the deal), and it's available on 101vape.com for about $22 on sale right now......and that the aluminum one I got ripped on was only $15 on another vape site.....I'm guessing people get a bunch of cheap stuff and throw it into a kit on Ebay then jack the price for the "convenience factor" of it being all in one package (not really convenient when the battery is useless). I really like the simple design of telescopic mods, so I ordered the steel version and am very pleased. The aluminum version worked good, don't get me wrong, but the HCigar clone is much better - has a nice heavy feel and the spring on the switch is under less tension so it's easier to hit it.
Either way, I hope my story encourages those who might have been burned on mechmods to keep at it. I've read about people who have had this happen, then give up altogether instead of just doing a little research into the right vendors. Learn from your mistakes like I did, don't let them destroy your hobby.
