I was looking through the library to get some links for a friend and noticed this part I think I've seen you post before and I've commented on.

VG boils (vaporizes) at a higher temperature than PG. VG won't gunk up your atomizer or be thicker if it's properly diluted with water, which I think most suppliers do adequately.

1) VG is thicker (more viscous)
2) VG vaporizes at a lower temperature
3) VG produces better vapor
4) VG is somewhat sweeter

Because of the above...

1) VG does not wick quite as well
2) VG may gunk up your atomizer more quickly
3) VG produces a somewhat cooler vapor which may reduce throat hit

Yes, this is where I copy it from each time I repost it.
:)

Next time I repost that I will hopefully remember to add your comments.
Unfortunately, it's too late to edit my original post now.

I read this 7 months ago when I was getting ready to start. Because of the info on how PG and VG metabolize, I decided that, as a diabetic, PG would be best for me. I've since tested my blood sugar after liquids that are all PG, all VG or a combination. None of them have any impact. So vape what you like best.

In the manual vs automatic discussion I don't think I saw anything about how the manual batt is sealed (better for dripping and for people like me who have a tendency to flood things.)

Cartomizers are becoming very prevalent. They're not just for KR808s any longer. If OP doesn't want to recommend them to newbies, at the very least their existence should be acknowledged and that, as people get experienced with keeping atomizers wet but get tired of constant refills, many turn to cartomizers. (More disposable, less expensive, hold more liquid, more likely to be killed by vaping while it is too dry...)

This thread has undoubtedly saved many a newbie from headaches and over-spending.

It's just too much info to get it at once I think a newbie should just get a basic kit and experiment with some options an liquids to learn what works for him/her.

I agree. A newbie would be a lot better off if they just ordered a joye 510 kit from cignot.com for $35 to start. Then they have a cheap reference point. And by cheap I mean not expensive. It's a quality kit.

I have to add Kent that I ONLY JUST retired my orginal nobox kit (the one you mention from cignot for $35) and thats 7 months down the road - and Im keeping it for abackup. It still works although all the original atties have now died but I got a good 2-4 months out of them. I used it and the PT I bought at the same time pretty much exclusively until I also got an eGo a couple months back, and even then I was still taking the basic one out with me at times (its so small its very discreet lol). The one drawback is the battery life BUT I ended up buying TWO nobox kits so swapping them out wasn't an issue.

Like hundreds before me, I would like to thank you DC and Kent for all this info. I thought "what's the big deal, buy an e-cig and start inhaling". Glad I read this first. I now have a place to start, sorta. Still not sure whether to just go with that joye501 starter or look into Vapor King or eGo and what's a "nobox" kit? AAARRRGGH!!!
Just started looking into this today after going to a party over the weekend where several folks were enjoying their e-cigs and my wife REALLY wants me to go this route, but my brain is drowning from all this info!

You're welcome! The 'no box kit' is the $35 joye510 kit from cignot.com, but if you're already thinking eGo go for it. It solves the 'battery' problem (need to recharge often) with the 510 kit which usually ends up with someone buying a Passthrough and a PCC (charging kit) - and also ends up costing more than a starting eGo kit. eGo batts will go for 6-6.5 hours before recharge (ymmv) vs. @1.5 hours on the 510.

Cignot is almost a neighbor... If you order today you may likely get it Wednesday. Maybe even tomorrow.

Joye eGo

Just get an extra batt (or 2 - rather than two kits) for now and both you and your wife can use the kit, because unlike some others it comes with 2 cones and 2 atomizers. Manual not auto batts (if you read my post on that ;-). Also get some ejuice and perhaps some blank cartridges flat tip. The ones in the kit come prefilled with Marlboro. Suggest getting some VG (big vapor) ejuice either in the 'Basic' line or Ecopure - suggest 'Regular'. If you smoke menthol, I don't recommend Ecopure menthol but in that line just get the 'Fresh'.

Wow, thanks for the write up - awesome. I saw the link to this in your sig (DC2). Every newbie should read this, it helped answer many of my questions.

The e-cig I bought at 7/11 is an automatic. The post about taking a primer suck to get the thing heating then drag - wow, what a difference.

Amazingly great advice. Thanks for the write up!

Thanks so much for this! It has definitely let me pull the trigger and finally order after 3 long months of hemming and hawing about what to order, whether or not to bother with it at all, etc. I registered with the board and started researching, got confused as all get out, then found this thread and it helped me to clarify my decisions.

I've ordered a Joye eGo mega starter kit from GreenhouseOne and hopefully I'll be able to cut down my analog smoking (HEAVY smoker, 40-50 menthol 100's/day for 20 years, started when I was 12), I've never tried to quit or even cut down before, so ANY progress I make will be an amazing thing.
