Ok, I have been reading a gagillion sites, forums, consumer reviews, etc, over the last week. I am so confused.

First, to introduce myself and give you some history. I'm in my early 30's, have been smoking for about 16 years or so (ya, I know). I need/want to quit "analog" cigs, but I love smoking. Enter, the e-cig. I've smoked just about everything, but the last few years have been smoking Marlboro Menthol Smooths. I'm at a pack a day.

I am pretty sure I've narrowed it down to a manual Joye 510 model. What all should I order with it? Extras, accessories, juices, all that? Should I get an eGo? tank? I want to keep it smaller, I don't think I want a giant cigar sized cig. What are your suggestions? I'm on an information overload here, lol. I would like to get everything that's needed at once.

Any suggestions on what juice is closest to Smooths taste wise? I'll probably end up getting the variety pack.

Any input is much appreciated. Thanks! And thanks for this great site! I'm off to read more threads.....

There are differences between the standard manual Joye 510 (The model I started with in 2008), and the newer eGo Tank system.

The standard 510 uses cartridges with a filler material, and the tank systems have no filler.

The tank systems require a lot less maintenance, and the newest tank system, the eGo "C" has had mostly favorable reviews (I use the "C" myself)...

Here is a link to some reviews of the Ego "C" Tank system - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ego-type-models/232530-new-ovale-ego-c-changeble-system.html

And the low resistance atomizers for the "C" -> http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ego-type-models/243615-got-my-ego-c-lr-attys-today.html

no one ever wants the cigar sized when they first start lol. save this post, and rehash it in about 2 months, then will see what your current pv is at that time lol. i gaurantee you it will be a ego style cig if not mods. ego isnt that big really. do your research man, buy once and be happy. or buy 6 times and be broke, up to you.

welcome to the forums. let the obsession begin!

I was a pack/pack and a half a day smoker. I would defiantly go with either a Riva 510 manual, or eGo 510 manual. Both work just as great with a click of a button. Last about 6-8 hours between needing to be charged. A fat batt is the way to go if you're heavy smoker. A smaller "cigarette" looking one just won't last as long.

Liberty Flights is the best bang for your buck in IMHO for starter kits. If they are in stock you can get a Riva lite starter kit for 29.99. Click the 20% off coupon in the upper left corner. Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Joye eGo Bonus, 2 month warranty on batteries.

When it comes to juice, small samples until you find something you really enjoy. At least 4-5 5/6 ml sample bottles. Should you fall in love with vaping like the rest of us last thing you want is to run out of juice!

Couldn't hurt to pick up a pack of cartomizers on Liberty Flights. Most people use cartomizers on their everyday juices. Very very easy to use. Most say smoketech or boge cartomizers are the best. A lot of people are 50-50 about tanks. You can always get a tank later. Some say they kill flavor, leak like crazy, others will swear by them up and down curiously scratching their heads wondering why in the world other's don't love them.

I also use to smoke marb menthol smooths. I remember them being minty... You might really enjoy candycane from VaporGod.com . I'm in love personally! I suggest being open to juice flavors. You'll be surprised how much you might like vaping something fruity, nutty, marshmellowy. I told someone last night at the bar I was vaping marshmallow and their eyes lit up like a christmas tree! lol

Welcome to ECF! I know its tons to soak in, just breathe.... whenever you get your kit whatever you pick, be prepared for a lot of "Ooooooh!" and "Aha! I know what they are talking about!" moments. Its so much simpler once its all finally in your hands.

If you're a pack/day smoker you'll quickly get frustrated with a small battery like the 510. You'll end up charging way too often. I'd suggest at least a 650 mah battery. That'll give you around 1/2 a day on a charge, give or take. I'd suggest you check out the eGo, eGo T, or Riva for starters.

infact i would suggest going for eGo-C instead of eGo-T if u're going down that line. Reason being eGo-T has some of its own mood swing and if it decides not to work for u, u might go back to analog which is what we wouldn't want to see. Something more foolproof would be eGo-C. of even just the standard eGo.
grab a 650mah battery or better still 900mah and above (to last u about a day or so)

Grab more juices of smaller sizes. something like 5 bottles of different flavor in 5ml-10ml bottle (this is such that u can play ard with the flavors first b4 deciding which flavor u like and in case u hit something that sucks, well its only 5ml) and 1 bottle of something u know shouldn't go wrong say 30ml?. (to at least last u a week++ b4 u deciding on the flavor u like best or in fact u can get alot of 5ml sampler bottles just for trying the flavors. and u can cycle thru them till u find the few u liked mre and order larger quantities of them.)

(my eGo-t gave me burnt chemical-ish taste when i first got it but i know how to get around it after more research which is something a new vaper wouldn't wanna go thru when he/she gets the first ecig.)

The bigger size eGo only takes a day or so to get used to but very well worth it when you look at how long you get out of a charge. Think for anyone who smokes a pack a day they should at least go with an eGo just because of the frustration of factor of waiting on the batteries to charge for the lower mah batteries.

As for what you need to get started? The batteries, charger, some cartos and some juice and you can be good to go almost as soon as it shows up at your door.

    in a cave, eh?
No you don't need a PCC with the eGo model. Yes, there is one. The sides on the eGo PCC are open (it won't keep pocket lint out) if you're considering it still.

Genuine eGos are made by Joye.

You should also be aware that Ego atomizers are shipped with a machine oil to keep them wet. You want to hold the atomizer over a paper towel and blow into the threaded end (the end that screws onto the battery) to clear the machine oil before you fill it and start vaping.

Like bob said you don't need a PCC with an eGo.

A Riva is more or less the same as an eGo. I've heard some they have a higher volt 3.7 as to eGo having a 3.4.. basically, Riva is a little warmer vapor if i'm not mistaken. Riva is also about 10/12$ cheaper then an eGo though Liberty Flights. Most of them are manual and you want manual for sure! Automatic batteries break easily from dripping/juice getting where it should not. Manual protects you from juice "oopsies" while you're still learning.

+1 for the Riva and you may want to try cartomizers instead of attys. They are easy to just fill and go IMO Less fuss with them. Liberty Flights would be a good place to get a Riva. Just don't forget to click on the 20% off button in the top left corner of the home page in order to get the discount.

Good luck to you and you will find much support here :)

Welcome, LisaC, and good luck with your new ecig!

BTW, I started with KR808s (Vapor4Life) and absolutely loved them. It was only after a year and a half that I felt the need for more power and bigger clouds of vapor. Now I use eGos/eGo clones with cartomizers, 510-t tanks and eGo-T Type B tanks. Some juices taste better in tanks; some in cartos. You'll learn what you like and what makes it tastier to you.

Keep us posted on your progress. :)

Believe me you are going to change until you find what you like the most. I started with the 510's filling the liquid into the cart, then I read about dripping and I started that ,then the ego t ( I hated that ) . But I love the big ego batteries because they last longer. Now I'm back to dripping with my Ego with a 510 atty and a cool drip tip . Next gonna get a screwdriver . Good luck man and happy vaping.

haha i started off with a eGo and just 510 atty and carts then hopped onto VV eGo-T type A which i'm ok with it depending on juice then provari with Dual coil Cartos and after which lavatube with arry tank. all within two months =x lavatube was more like a backup buy incase my provari decides to go angry on me.

But ya as starter, Joye eGo or the Riva will nvr go wrong. From there u can start to experiment different atty/cartos and juices then tanks mods thank bigger VV tube mods lol.
